Two labourers of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPC) died after falling into tunnel. Parimal Roy, 41 years from Jalpaiguri district working at Jai Prakash Industries Ltd. found missing since May 9 and a search team found him dead in the distilling chamber tunnel on May 10. He is suspected to fall down into tunnel and died. When another labourer, Kiran Rai, resident of Bijanbari, Darjeeling went to recover the dead body, he too fell down and sustained grievous injury and died.
