URBAN PLAN FOR THE CITY OF GANGTOK SUBMITTED
Gangtok, May 12: The delegates of Building and Construction Authority (BAC) from Singapore suggested the government of Sikkim to formulated a comprehensive report and submit a detail report on urban sector, forestry and environment. They also suggested that the report should be reach to them at Singapore within mid June 2007' so that they are able to start their work by July 2007.
A Four-Member delegation of the Building and Construction Authority (BAC) from Singapore consisting of Kohilng-Ji, Director Internal Operation Building and Construction authority Dr. Liongshang Young, Deputy Centre Director, Loong Yee Mun vice president master planning and urban design and R.S. Prakash, Director South Asia, made a presentation on urban plan for the city of Gangtok and eight other towns of Sikkim before the Pawan Chamling, Chief Minister of Sikkim at Samman Bhawan on 10th May 07'. Chief Minister had met the BAC team in Singapore when the former was on an official tour to Singapore earlier in June 2006 and had made an understanding between the government of Sikkim and BAC Singapore to give shape to the small towns of Sikkim as world class town ship.
The programme was organized by UD & HD department government of Sikkim.
The programme was also attended by the Ministers R.B. Subba, S.N. Poudyal, S.B. Subedi, Chief Secretary, and Heads of Departments from related departments and other Officers from UD & HD.
