SIKKIM RANKS SECOND IN ORGANIC TRADE FAIR

Sikkim ranks second in the best pavilion layout award in the India Organic Trade Fair 2007 held in New Delhi. Six delegation members with 40 farmers participated from Sikkim in the fair. TD Lachungpa, additional director (East and North) of State Food Security and Agriculture Development department (SFSADD) received the award on behalf of the state which was presented by the India Organic Trade Fair (IOTF) committee.

The three-day fair was held at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) complex at Shastri Nagar in New Delhi from November 29th to 2nd December. Former Union minister for agriculture with the chief minister of Assam including the director-general of ICAR and Organic Certificate Authority of New Zealand where the distinguished people present at the fair. This trade fair is part of the mission of developing competence in organic agriculture and agribusiness in India and South Asia.
