Uma Chhetri of Reshi Renock Sikkim deprived of health service despite being voter

Uma Chhetri of Reshi Renock Sikkim deprived of health service despite being voter collecting meager donation from door to door for her treatment

Gangtok, 8 December: The age of the women as shown in the picture is barely of 37 years, but she looks today as old as 50 years due to her acute poverty, illness and ignorance. She told the correspondent while pleading for some donation that her father and forefather lived in this land from generations and she too born in this land but without the Sikkim subject. Due to some reason or other, her father and forefather could not purchase a land due to their shear poverty and hence compelled to remain as landless people from generations and as a result of which they could not produce any document to be the subjects of Sikkim in the erstwhile Chyogyal regime and later on too. However, they were and are the voters voting their representatives in the power for several terms till today, but no representative as she told, extended their helps to this poor family till the date. Mother of four children, the sorrow did not end here to Uma Chhetri for her husband Tara Bir Chhetri too met an accident and broken his backbone after falling from a tree who is now invalid and cannot work at all to earn their livelihood, as she narrates her story by shedding tears from her eyes. She said that she is compelled to visit from door to door and ask for donation for her medical treatment.
