Football coach Solomon Lepcha passes away

GANGTOK, June 30: Solomon Lepcha, the Chief Coach (Football), State Sports & Youth Affairs Department passed away here today.
The 55-year-old breathed his last at around 8:30 pm at the Central Referral Hospital, 5th Mile, Tadong after a prolonged illness.
Late Lepcha, who was known to be a renowned footballer, was serving as the State Chief Coach for the last three years
He was currently coaching the students of Sports Hostel and the State Women Football team.
“We are in great sorrow on Solomon Lepcha’s untimely demise. He was the best footballer that Sikkim has ever produced. He has also contributed a lot to Sikkim Football. Girls will be missing him a lot as he was the supporting pillar for women football. May God bless his soul,” expressed Menla Ethenpa, the General Secretary of Sikkim Football Association.
