Sikkim polls to be held on April 30

The 32 assembly seats and the sole Lok Sabha seat in Sikkim shall undergo poll on April 30. The notification would be issued on April 2, while the last date of nominations has been fixed on April 9. Scrutiny will take place on April 10 and the withdrawal of candidature has been scheduled for April 13. The counting of votes would take place on May 16.

A total of 2,97,580 voters, comprising 1,55,649 men and 1,41,931 women will exercise their franchise to elect 32 representatives to the state assembly and that of one Lok Sabha on April 30, he said.


There are four national parties -- Congress, BJP, CPI(M) and NCP -- one recognised regional party - Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) - and two registered regional parties Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party (SHRPP) and Sikkim Gorkha Prajatantrik Party (SGPP) in the state.
