SINGTAM, MAY 7: The exciting semi finals of the junior and senior category of Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer, Search for the best solo dancer of Sikkim is set to happen at Singtam on May 12 and 13 respectively. Around 41 participants from different corner of state are performing their best for the coveted title of ‘Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer’.
The event is organized by Badhaichha Creation, Singtam in association with Singtam Basibiyalo and ‘Proud To Be A Sikkimese’ Blog. Indra Pradhan, Central Executive Member of SDF and the chairperson of the Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer organizing Committee had expressed happiness the way the participants had performed. We thoroughly enjoyed the two day audition round and I am sure more excitation is still awaited in next two rounds. I am happier to see major participants from rural areas, she said.
According to the information provided by Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director of Badhiachha Creation, Pradhan has added that we never had second thought about our talents in our state but we lacked in platform, we have organized this dance competition basically to promote our local talents. Most of the participants we had at the competitions were those whose dancing skills had been limited to school functions. We want to highlight those gifted one to different dancing stages of Sikkim and beyond.

Pradhan went on to say that after the competition of the audition rounds, a special dance workshop was organized at Singtam that was attended by the semi finalist participants. The three judges interacted with the participants and explained about semi final rounds. It was announced that the participants for both junior and senior category shall perform two separate dances for the coming semi final round. In the first round the participants shall perform for ‘Property Round’ from which 20 selected shall enter for the next “Theme Round” from which ten selected shall feature in the Finals, said Pradhan.
Pradhan added that the dance performance shall be of 2 minutes and the participants are requested to report on time on the day. We had some problem with the participants from far places with the registration so in the coming round we have decided that the participants reporting earlier shall be given first preferences, said Pradhan.

  2. Hi,
This is Subhash here from bangalore. Nice blog you've got here. I've never visited gangtok, but I have great interest in setting up a software company in gangtok. In view of unused bandwidth from stpi, and uninterrupted power, it is perfect for my company, theoretically.

I heard it's hard to find a place to rent there. Would that be true? What other problems would I have to face for daily living gangtok, like stocking essential supplies for a couple of weeks, etc... :)

Can you please advise me on whether gangtok is a nice place to settle down if one doesn't have to move out of the state too much. Sorry for the trouble if you don't wish to be bothered.

Thanks in advance, just in case :)

    Subhash
