Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated the 72^nd Independence Day with joy and enthusiasm..The parade march, Badminton matches, and a cultural program was the highlight of the day. TB Pradhan, former Wireless Inspector, and KK Pradhan, former Policeman, Singtam Police Station were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Schoolboys Pintu Gupta and Aaron Pradhan won the Shantinagar Open Men’s Doubles Badminton Tournament- 2018. They defeated Bishal Pradhan and Yowan Lepcha in a close match. Nandu Dutraj defeated Krishna Chettri in the Veteran Singles Exhibition match. Similarly in the other badminton exhibition match, the pair of  Cashily Ayemi & Tovini Ahomi defeated Priyanka Rai & Sujata Bagdas to lift the Women’s Doubles Badminton trophy.

The parade march was performed by the students of Archigos Preparatory Academy to which the Chief Guest took the salute. The students also performed two dances and participated in the sports event. TB Pradhan congratulated the Samiti on the activities carried on so far. Speaking about the big day, he said no one should forget the sacrifices made by our people in the Indian Freedom Movement.

Upper Tanak PS

Independence Day was celebrated at Government Primary School, Upper Tanak under Temi BAC in a colourful manner. CM Chettri, Headmaster of the school hoisted the national flag. Different patriotic programs were conducted by the students of the school.

Sakyong Chisoapani JHS

Indra Shanker, Zilla Panchayat, and Sirwani-Chisopani GPU hoisted the National Flag at the 72^nd Independence Day function held at the Sakyong Chisopani JHS’s ground premises. Students of Sakyong Chisopani JHS performed parades and cultural programs. The inter-school football match was played between Sakyong Chisopani JHS and Lower Sumin SS. The boys of Lower Sumin SS won the match with three goals to nil.
