Phadamchen SS celebrates National Environment Awareness Campaign



RONGLI, May 18:  A day long program for National Environment Awareness Campaign 2012 was held at school premises on May 17, 2012. The program was organized by Jan Kalyan Nehru Yuva Samiti, Phadamchen that was supported by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. of India and Envis Centre, Sikkim. The theme for this year celebration was ‘Forest for Sustainable Livelihood’.
Debates and Speeches on environment was the highlight of the day that had more than 200 participants. Present on the occasion were teachers and students of Phadamchen SS, local publics and Forest Officials.
Jeet Raj, Inspector SSB was the Chief Guest of the day while Norbu Sherpa Joint Forest Management Committee (T) under Phadhamchen Range was the two resource persons. GD Singh, Sub Inspector SSB, Anup Kumar Singh, Head Constable and Nim Doma Bhutia, EDC member were the Special Guests on the occasion.
Rajiv Jairu, Accountant JKNYS gave the welcome speech while PT Sherpa and HB Gurung gave speeches on better environment. Jeet Raj, the Chief Guest in his speech appealed everyone to protect green environment and its surrounding wildlife. Raj emphasized that we should count this effort as our duty. Prizes were distribution on the end of the day.
