Photo Society members meets new Principal of Singtam SSS

28.10.21: Three members team of Photographic Society of Sikkim visited Singtam SSS to meet Mr. Suresh Kumar Pradhan, recently appointed Principal of the school. He was offered khadas and welcomed. Talks on matter of photography related to school was also discussed.

Suresh Kumar Pradhan was the founder Vice President of the Photographic Society of Sikkim, a photo enthusiastic group from Singtam. PSS members included Sanket Agarwal, (General Secretary) Ashok Prasad (Joint Secretary), and Shital Pradhan.

Sikkim Cricketer Ankur Malik Selected For U19 Men’s One Day Challenger Trophy

Sikkim Cricketer Ankur Malik has been selected to play in the upcoming Under 19 Men’s One Day Trophy to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 25th October to 10th November 2021. This is for the second time after Amos Rai who was selected for Zonal Cricket in the year 2000 that the player has been selected to play in the higher division of the Domestic Tournament. 

Ankur Malik aged 17, has been part of the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy and gave a remarkable performance in the tournament. Out of five league matches, Sikkim played only four matches (one match was abandoned due to rain). He scored 205 runs in four matches and took 16 wickets. He was ranked 3rd best in bowling and 21st in batting order in all of India.



Sikkim in recent times is doing well under the vision of SICA and the guidance of Dr Atul Gaikwad, the Director of Coaching of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA). The Sikkim players are now under good guidance and have a hunger to excel and win matches for the State.


Dr Gaikwad says, "Indeed it is very inspiring for us and for many cricketers from Sikkim, slowly and steadily the fruits you are seeing in the form of Ankur’s and U19 girls team achievements is simply due to the hard work of our President, Secretary, Executive members and each person involved in Sikkim cricket, the seeds have been already sown by them,   now let's wait for few more years and you find soon a IPL star and a India player from SICA".


Challengers Trophy is organised by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), comprising six teams with the top-performing players of Vinoo Mankad Trophy (the U19 One Day Tournament). Further players from this tournament will be selected to play for India Under 19 Team in the U19 World Cup 2022.

Sovima Cricket Ground inaugurated in Dimapur

A historic day for cricket in the Northeast. The Six member State Associations gathered in Dimapur to celebrate the inauguration of Sovima Cricket Ground along with participating in the 7th Conclave of Northeast Cricket Development Committee.

 


The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri. Neiphiu Rio, Associate Vice President Athletics Federation of India Shri Abu Metha, executives of Northeast and dignitaries. Northeastern states and it's children for the longest time have not had access to the opportunities and facilities. Therefore such meetings serve to encourage growth, learning and sharing amongst the members. These are the very pillars on which NECDC was formed, a means to not just represent each one of us collectively but to encourage unity amongst our northeastern states

Singtam Kendra joined rest of India to observe PMBJP's 75 years of I'Day

Singtam, October 10:  Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna  was observed at a Singtam Kendra bearing  Store Code PNBJK06776. The highlight of the program was the distribution of first aid box as token to 75 senior citizens of Singtam bazaar and beyond.



Dr. MP Sharma, MD, Gynecologist was the Chief Guest of the program while Dilip Kumar, aged 92 was the Special Guest. Free medical check-up and BP check-up was also done on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Anita Chettri, Proprietor of the Singtam Kendra told that the objective of PMBJP is to make avail the quality and genuine medicines to all in an affordable prices. Under this Jan Aushadhi campaign,  wide range of medicines are provided to the needy ones. Apart from medicines; surgical supplies, wellness products, fitness supplements, diabetic  care kits and other products are also available, added Chettri.

The program comes under Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75th years of Independence and observed all across different PMBJP kendras of India.

SICA’s Response To The Matter Concerning A Selector

 


In response to the recent report and alleged involvement of a selector, SICA has sent a show cause notice to Mr. Bikash Pradhan, who has been recalled and suspended from all SICA activity with immediate effect pending further investigation. 

The BCCI Anti corruption unit has also been informed and the matter will be further taken up by the disciplinary committee. SICA is also offering all and any assistance from its end to aid the investigation and for uncovering the truth in the matter.

Sikkim U-19 women cricket team reaches KO Round

SikkimUnder 19 Women’s team created a history by entering into the Knock-Out Round of the ongoing Under 19 Women’s One Day tournament for the first time after winning all the five matches of the league round. Today they won against Arunachal Pradesh by 64 runs (VJD Method) at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneshwar, Odhisha. Sikkim is leading the Plate Ground point(s) table by 20 point(s) and will be playing the Knock-out ground in Jaipur from 11th October.

Sikkim won the toss and chooses to bat first. In the first innings, Sikkim scored 207 runs in 50 overs loosing 5 wickets. Samayita Roy Prodhan scored 68 runs, Dikcha Gurung 29, Nandita Das 26, Pranita Chettri 23 no-out, and Captain Pretika Chettri 16 not-out.

In the second innings, Sikkim took early wickets and Arunachal lost 3 wickets for just 17 runs in 20 overs. Due to heavy rain the match was stopped and Sikkim won the match by VJD method.

Third win for Sikkim U-19 women cricket team

SikkimUnder 19 Women’s team registered yet another win in the ongoing Women's Under 19 One Day Trophy against Nagaland by 52 runs today at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, earning 4 point(s). With one match to go in the league round of the tournament Sikkim is leading the point(s) table with 16 point(s).



Nagaland won the toss and choose to field first. In the first innings, Sikkim scored 143 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs. Nandita Das scored 33 runs, Pranita Chettri 32, Nur Pandi Lepcha 16 not-out, Pretika Chettri 15, Yudenmit Lepcha 11 and Leezamit Lepcha 3 not-out. In the second innings, Sikkim’s attacking bowling restricted the opponent an Nagaland were all-out for 91 runs in 38.3 overs. Dikcha Gurung took 3 wickets for Sikkim, followed by Nur Pandi and Leezamit who took 2 wickets each. 


Captain Tarun takes 5 wickets as Sikkim defeat Arunachal Padesh: Vinoo Mankad U-19 Tournament 2021 Update

 Sikkim Under 19 Men’s team secured their second win in the ongoing Men's Under 19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh by 41 runs today at JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi, Jharkhand, earning 10 point(s) for far in the tournament.Sikkim is currently second in the Plate Group.



Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat first. In the first innings, they scored 90 runs losing 10 wickets in 36.2 overs. Adarsh Pandey scored 24 runs, Captain Tarun Sharma 23 runs and Vivek Kumar 14 runs not-out. In the second innings, Arunachal Pradesh were all-out for 49 runs in 18.1 overs. Captain Tarun Sharma took 5 wickets, Ankur Malik 4 wickets and Sajal Thapa took 1 wicket. Sikkim will be playing against Meghalaya on 04/10/2021 at OVAL Ground, Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Also, Sikkim Under 19 Women’s team currently tops the group as they secured their third consecutive win in the ongoing Women's Under 19 One Day Trophy against Meghalaya by 95 runs today at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, earning 12 point(s) for the tournament.



Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat first. In the first innings, they scored 135 runs losing 7 wickets. Samayita Roy Prodhan scored 55 runs, Yuden 26 runs and Captain Pretika Chettri 1 runs not-out. In the second innings, Meghalay were all-out for 40 runs in 27.1 overs. Leezamit Lepcha Chettri took 4 wickets, Pranita Chettri 3 wickets and Nur Pandi Lepcha 2 wickets. 


Sikkim will be playing against Nagaland tomorrow at KIIT Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha and the team is in high spirit as it looks forward to tomorrow’s encounter.

Sikkim U-19 women cricket team wins against Jammu and Kashmir

 30.09.21 : The Under 19 Women’s One Day Tournament has begun and Sikkim played its first match today against Jammu & Kashmir at Railway Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha and won the match by 3 wickets in just 28 overs, earning 4 point(s).

Jammu & Kashmir won the toss and choose to bat first. In the first innings, they were all-out for 78 runs in 35.4 overs. Sikkim’s attacking bowling lineup gave a lot of trouble to the opponents. Dikcha Gurung took 3 wickets, Samayita Roy Prodhan took 2 wickets and Nur Pandi Lepcha 1 wicket. In the second innings, Sikkim gave a good start and won the match in 28 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. Samayita scored 30 runs, Dikcha 10 runs and Pranita Chettri 9 runs.

SGSS celebrated 152nd Gandhi Jayanti

 October 2, Singtam : Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti observed the 153nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the badminton court. Highlight of the day was offering of khada to the frame of Gandhi ji, cleanliness drive around the badminton court, walkway and at Gandhiji's painting near the National Highway at Shantinagar. On the occasion, a badminton set and a packet of shuttlecock was also presented to the players.



Shital Pradhan, Publicity Incharge, SGSS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Present on the occasion were PP Upretti, Advisor, SGSS, Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS, Nishant Dulal, teacher, East Point SSS and other members of the organization.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS said we segregated the wastes and have found that there are two types of wastes mostly usually found, plastic water bottles and plastic chips wrappers. We have decided that we can sell these plastic bottles and buy necessary items like soap or ball-pen. It was requested that everyone throw the chip wrappers in the dustbin and not in public spaces.

SGREWA Singtam elects a new executive body

October 01, Singtam: SGREWA Singtam Branch organized its general meeting at Nepali Dharamsala. Present on the occasion were DT Bhutia, President, SGREWA, PL Sharma, General Secretary, SGREWA, TP Koirala, Financial Advisor, SGREWA, GP Tiwari, President SGREWA Pakyong Branch, and members of SGREWA Singtam Branch.



The highlights of the meeting included the constitution of the new executive body, discussion on memorandum presented to the government by the central committee, and other welfare activities of the organization. It was decided to submit a memorandum to the government with the request of; the establishment of a dialysis center at District Hospital, Singtam, enhancement of medical relief to the pensioners from Rs 2000 to Rs.5000, and construction of a playground for the Singtam SSS.

Speaking on the occasion, guests from the Central Committee and Pakyong Branch appreciated the efforts of SGREWA Singtam for working towards the benefits of the retired employee's friends. President Pakyong Branch shared different initiatives undertaken by the SGREWA Pakyong Branch for the upliftment of its members. Similarly, members of the SGREWA central committee also informed the status of different issues related to retired employees.

TB Pradhan, outgoing President, SGREWA Singtam thanked his team for working towards the welfare of the organization for the last five years. Rinzing Lhamu Bhutia, General Secretary spoke about the prevention of dengue. Students from V-Matrix Dance Academy gave a dance performance on the day.
