SICA President inaugurates double concrete cricket pitch at Legship

SICA President Shri Lobzang G Tenzing inaugurated the double concrete cricket pitch constructed at Legship, West Sikkim The program was wonderfully organized by Legship Cricket Club and its members. The program was attended by Zilla Panchayat Member Shri. Bal Bahadur Rai who has continuously supported the cricket fraternity in the locality. He was instrumental in the construction, preparation of the playground. The ground is fully equipped to accommodate local sporting programs. 


Cricket in Sikkim has seen exponential growth in the last several years through SICA’s continuous effort and with individuals like Shri Bal Bahadhur Rai and active members of LCC supporting the Association, the future seems even brighter for the young players and children of the State.

Ashish Thapa becomes the first Sikkimese to score a hundred in Ranji Trophy

Sikkim played in its second match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy at Eden Gardens, Kolkata against Bihar from 24th February to 27th February 2022. The match which seemed dominated by Bihar in its first innings turned the other way around which saw Sikkim take the first-innings lead gaining 3 point(s) and drawing the match.


Sikkim won the toss and chose to field first. In the first innings, 
Bihar declared their innings with a total of 431 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Sikkim bowlers were spearheaded by Palzor Tamang who took 3 wickets, Nitesh Kr. Gupta took 2 wickets and 1 wicket each by Karthik C.A, Lee Yong Lepcha & Sumit Singh.



Sikkim struggled a bit by losing early wickets but Liyan Khan took the charge by scoring 75 runs along with the captain Kranthi Kumar with 287 runs and local boy Ashish Thapa with 151 runs. Sumit Singh’s 56 runs and Ankur’s 50 runs also added to the total for a mammoth score of 673 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and declaring its innings with a lead of 242 runs.

Day 4 saw the second innings of Bihar for a score of 263 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Karthik C. A took 2 wickets and Sumit took 1 wicket.

It is a big achievement for our local player Mr. Ashish Thapa who scored a century-plus against a strong team like Bihar and became the first player in the history of Sikkim Cricket to score 151 runs in first-class cricket.

Kartik, Liyan, Sumit, Ankur, Lee, Palzor and Nitesh gave a great contribution to the team success”.

Sikkim will be playing its next match against Manipur from 3rd March to 6th March 2022 at JU Second Campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Sikkim's Top Model Miss Teen 2022 Safalta Biswakarma congratulated

24.02.22: Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti welcomed and congratulated Safalta  Biswakarma, winner of Sikkim's Top Model Miss Teen 2022 Season 2 at Shantinagar. In a small program, she was offered khadas and a flower bouquet.

Speaking on the occasion Krishna Chettri, President SGSS congratulated the family of the title winner. Chettri told the Samiti is blessed to have such talent. The mother and grandmother of Safalta were also offered khadas and thanked for supporting their daughter's wishes.

International Mother Language Day observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS

21.02.22: International Mother Language Day was observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS. Trishna Dulal, GT Arts spoke about the importance of the day. She demonstrated the word ‘Namaste’ is used in the Nepali language to greet someone. The gathered students replaced the word Namaste in their respective native languages. Anu Gurung, GT, Arts, and Suraj Subba, GT, Maths were the other coordinator teachers.

Sakyong Chisopani JHS celebrates Result Day

Singtam, February 18: A short certificate distribution program was held at the school premises. Present on the occasion were the school staff of Sakyong Chisopani JHS, members of SMC, parents, and students. The highlight of the program was the distribution of results, certificates to the students; offering khadas and thanksgiving to the parents of those selected students, and farewell to the outgoing class viii students. 

Shital Pradhan, School Incharge gave the school report of 2021. He also shared his plans for the new session before the gathered crowds. Pemala Bhutia and Nirmala Sharma gave the welcome speech and vote of thanks, respectively. Nikhil Rai, President of, SMC also spoke on the occasion.


Master Aditya Rai, class viii, and Miss Roshni Subba, class iv, students of Sakyong Chisopani JHS was declared Student of the Year 2021 at a small program organized at the school premises. Miss Anamika Gurung who was the finalist of the 60m athletic event at District Level Inter School Junior Olympic 2021 was awarded Student-Athlete of the Year. Similarly, Miss Rehana Limboo of Class iv was presented with a certificate of Best Handwriting Award 2021.



Sixteen students from class i till class viii were awarded certificates of appreciation as encouragement for their overall performances of academic and non-academic activities through online mode.  Seven outgoing class viii students were also presented with mementos and certificates. The students also shared their experiences and thanked the teachers for helping them in their studies.

Message from the Governor of Sikkim



The Chief Minister of Sikkim and the Governor of Sikkim have expressed deep grief in the passing of the Lata Mangeskar, the legendary singer of Indian Cinema. The state have released a notification to observe two days mourning where no entertainment event shall be held on these two days and the national flag shall remain in half mast.
