No Smoking Day observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS

31.05.22: No Smoking Day was observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS with talks on social issues affecting society. Present on occasion were the School’s staff and students, members of Chisopani GPUs, members of SMCs, guardians and others.

Rohit Raj Maharaj, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to Sikkim had graced the occasion as the chief guest cum resource person for the anti-drug campaign. The Advisor gave important lessons on moral values, he echoed on making 'afno gau aafai banau'.

A short slogan rally was organised that was participated by the students carrying placards displaying messages on anti-drugs. The students of the school also presented welcome prayer songs in Nepali and English.
SB Gurung, SHO, Singtam Police Station spoke on different issues related to POCSO Act and cybercrime. The SHO gave examples of different cases he had come across. Similarly Dr. Sheetal Chettri, Psychiatric, Singtam District Hospital interacted with the students with her talks on mental health.
Other people to speak on the occasion included OP Niroula, AEO, Education Department, Khamdong BAC, IB Shanker, Member, Zilla Panchayat and PB Subba, Headmaster, Sakyong Chisopani JHS.
Pema Bhutia, teacher, SCJHS was the host of the day while DP Shivakoti, member School Development Committee gave the vote of thanks.

Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal remembered on his 99th birth anniversary

 22.05.22: Sikkim started off the centennial birth anniversary celebrations of Late Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal starting today. A year-long celebration had been decided in the state of Sikkim till May 22nd 2023. 

 A major celebration was held today at Chogyal Palden Thondup Memorial Park, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Deorali. More than 34 different organisations along with the Chogyal Centennial Celebrations Committee had come together to celebrate the occasion. 

 


Prince Palden Gyurmed Namgyal, the son of the Late Chogyal gave his gracious presence to make the event a memorable one. Prayers and a cultural program from different communities were held on the occasion.

 

Earlier in the morning, a day-long, Sowa Rigpa Free Medical Camp at MG Marg was inaugurated by Ganga Prasad, the Governor of Sikkim. The camp was conducted by The medical camp was conducted by Soga Rigpa Medical College of NIT, Deoarli. The Governor of Sikkim then visited Chogyal Palden Thondup Memorial Park, NIT to pay tribute to the late Chogyal. Centennial Badge was also released on the occasion.


 

Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal was the 12th King of Sikkim, it was during his reign the Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim got merged with mighty India.

12th Bermiok Athing Jigdel T. Densapa (1923-2013) honoured

08.05.22: Inauguration of Thaptsang (Kitchen) Complex donated in fond memory of 12th Bermiok Athing Jigdel T. Densapa (1923-2013) by Yap Thinlay N. Densapa and Chomi Lhakahang donated in memory of Yap K.R. Densapa and Gyamu Kazini of Tharbu Khothi by Chumla Diki Lhamu Kazini was concluded.



A Jinsay Lhakhang donated by Gopal Pradhan was dedicated to all dharma devotees and another Jinsay Lhakhang donated by the Khimtem family was in memory of Karma Tenzing Bhutia and Gyamu Bhutia.
Annual General Meeting of Bermiok Whosel Choling Monastery Management Committee was also held dissolving the old committee and forming of the new committee for the period of five years.
The meeting was attended by Monastery Chief Patron Yap Thinley N. Densapa and Chief Advisor of Monastery Diki Lhamu Kazini, South District Zilla Upadhakshya Bhim Bahadur Lakhey, Tashi Tshering Bhutia (Panchayat President) and Panchayat members of 12-Bermiok Tokal G.P.U, senior citizens and dharma devotees of Kalden Kidu Sang,Todey Thindul Kidu, MRP Tokal, and Bekchung Samaj.
Following members were elected:- Chhindi Bhutia (President), Karma Palzor Bhutia (Vice President), Karma Chedup Bhutia (Vice President), Gopal Pradhan (General Secretary), Karma Wangdi Bhutia (Joint Secretary), Bhaila Bhutia (Treasurer) and Tashi Tshering Lepcha (Joint Treasurer).
