Mazhitar Food and Drink Festival 2016: Towards wider audience

Prashant Tamang, Indian Idol winner, Remanti Rai, Sikkim State Awardee, Damber Nepali, famed singer from Nepal was among the artists who wrapped up the closing night of the three-day-long Mazhitar Food and Drink 2016 held at Mazhitar SS’s ground.  The combination of music and food supported by innovative glimpses of West Pandam Constituency made a huge impact on the people of Mazhitar and beyond. Interested visitors (thanks to its huge publicity) from places like Siliguri, Darjeeling, and different corners of the State have made the organizing committee think big for the next season. Sikkim is no new to organizing such events and is known across the globe for promoting its culture, costume, and traditions. Hissey Doma Bhutia to act in Doordarshan Primetime Television Series “Ek Tha Rusty”

23-year-old Hissey Doma Bhutia from Arithang, Gangtok has been identified by New Delhi-based production house Crown Communication to act in a Doordarshan Primetime Television Series “Ek Tha Rusty” based on the novel of Ruskin Bond.   Earlier Sikkimese gal Sangay Udenla was picked up and she is in the shooting at Mussoorie  right now.   Hisey had already done a cameo role in Remanti Rai’s song “Pokhawnu Sakina”, besides she had recently acted in Bhutia's song “Nying Tam” as a lead model ; acted in many music videos, and performed many dance sequels in local events. She had already worked with one of the famous choreographers Mr. Kamal Rai Nepali Film choreographer. Annual Day Celebration held at Posakay Primary School

  Dalapchand:  Posakay Primary School observed its annual day function in a colorful and cultural manner on December 21.    Present on the occasion was Dhiraj Pradhan BDO Regu BAC, Chador Bhutia, AD HRDD/Regu BAC, Deepak Rai, AEO HRDD, NK Pradhan, Zilla member, Tashi Topgay, HM Chujachen SSS, Girdari Dawari, HM Chandaney PS, and others. Posakay School’s students along with students of Chujachen SSS and Lunchok PS presented colourful cultural extravaganza.    The day's highlight was the felicitation of Tshewang Choden Sherpa, Primary Teacher, and Singer Remanti Rai. Annual Prize distributions for the students and for the guardians were also conducted on the day. The guardians' performance in guiding their children was also honoured. Remanti Rai, Geeta Sharma enters next round of North East Wave Mega Talent Hunt

Remanti Rai and  Geeta Sharma are among the five singers selected from Sikkim for the next Guwahati round of the North East Wave, a mega talent hunt in singing and dancing among the North East States. The other three singers are Sujata Tamang, Rakesh Moktan and Suraj Sharma. Similarly in dance category are Rohan Dahal, Sheetal Rai, Robin Mukhia, Reshma Baraily and Pema Lhamu Pradhan who shall represent Sikkim in the next round. The competitors have left for Assam this evening.  "North East Wave is a mega talent hunt launched by the North Eastern Council. For the first time, a talent hunt of this scale is being conducted in the North East where the participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim will fight it out in a competition showcasing their singing and dancing talent. The winners will get exciting prizes and a chance to be a part of a music album as well as feature in a music video."

30th Basibiyalo exchanges cultural extravaganza

SNGTAM: The 30 th edition of the famed monthly literary and cultural meet of Basibiyalo at Singtam added a new chapter in their progress with 12-year-old Ketan Mangla, from Rangpo reciting a poem in Hindi language and Kashmira Pradhan, a teenager singer from Gangtok rendering a heart touching English version of classic Celine Dion’s title track from the film Titanic.  Popular singer and anchor Remanti Rai from Gangtok made her first public appearance at Singtam as a singer, along with a couple of new female debutants in the singing field. Sujata Chettri and Melody Mukhia from Singtam made their first presentation in front of audiences.
