Sikkim Cricketers Selected For Senior NCA Camp 2019

PRESS RELEASE The Senior Men’s & Women’s camp for the North East States 2019 will be conducted at Imphal, Manipur and Shillong, Meghalaya respectively from 10 th April to 4 th May 2019 by the National Cricket Academy (NCA), BCCI. Four Ranji players Nilesh Lamichaney, Ashish Thapa, Lee Yong Lepcha and Bibek Diyali from Sikkim have been selected for men’s camp and five senior women players Dichen Ongmu Lepcha, Sunita Rai, Purni Maya Gurung, Pranita Chettri and Tshering Ongmu Lepcha have been selected for women’s camp by the All India Selection Committee. After inclusion of Sikkim as a full member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2018, this is for the first time the senior players from Sikkim has been called for the NCA camp. Annual Day Celebration held at Posakay Primary School

  Dalapchand:  Posakay Primary School observed its annual day function in a colorful and cultural manner on December 21.    Present on the occasion was Dhiraj Pradhan BDO Regu BAC, Chador Bhutia, AD HRDD/Regu BAC, Deepak Rai, AEO HRDD, NK Pradhan, Zilla member, Tashi Topgay, HM Chujachen SSS, Girdari Dawari, HM Chandaney PS, and others. Posakay School’s students along with students of Chujachen SSS and Lunchok PS presented colourful cultural extravaganza.    The day's highlight was the felicitation of Tshewang Choden Sherpa, Primary Teacher, and Singer Remanti Rai. Annual Prize distributions for the students and for the guardians were also conducted on the day. The guardians' performance in guiding their children was also honoured. Kritika Rai selected for national level Tennis training

13 years old Kritika Rai of Sikkim Table Tennis Association (STTA) has been selected during a selection camp organized by Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) recently at Ajmer. Ms. Rai who has proved her mettle in the game will be awarded the facilities in the academy by PSPB which includes free boarding and schooling apart from free training inclusive of all equipments and sports kit.

Rishim: Beyond cultural boundaries

'Rishim’ is more than just a beautiful word that will remain with me forever. I am sure the magic of Rishim will lure anyone. More than four months back when I had a chance to meet Yuvraaj Rai, a famed cinematographer from Nepal in Mazhitar near Rangpo, he came up with an idea to premiere a Nepali movie based on the Rai community in Sikkim to which I could not hide my excitement. He had then just had a few shows in Nepal, Hong Kong, and other places. He proudly said “Rishim” and without any second thought, we (members of Spark NGO) agreed that we will make an arrangement to release the movie to our people in Sikkim.   In my opinion, the culture of a place cannot be bounded by any geographical or political boundaries and I have seen that in Rishim. A mere pronunciation of the word Rishim was enough to raise my query to know more about it. I was just told that Rishim was the name of a character and the story of the film revolves around her.
