On behalf of Singtam Boxing Club, Bhim Maya Darnal, Sabina  Sundas, Sandhya Sapkota, Papu Sharma, Krishna Chettri and Shital Pradhan participated at the 20th Annual General Meeting of the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA). The meeting was held at Eco Paradise, Mining, Rangpo. During the meeting, the association shared information about the achievements of Sikkimese boxers at both junior and senior national boxing levels. It was reported that Sikkimese boxers won a total of 64 medals during the 2022-23 season. The association also honoured and gave out SABA T-shirts to the attendees. The meeting was attended by boxing legends Jas Lal Pradhan and Sandhya Gurung, as well as coaches, guests from different districts, and young aspiring boxers.

11.07.22: Prava Gazmer from Sirwani, Singtam wins a bronze medal at the 5th Youth Men & Women National Boxing Championship 2022 held at SRM University Kattankulathaur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In the semifinal bout, Prava lost in a close fight to Himachal Pradesh’s Boxer Kashis by 3-2 points in 48-50 kg weight categories. Prava Gazmer is coached by Pritam Shilal, Singtam Boxing Association.

Jayant Dagar, a student of Kyi-De-Khang Sr. Sec. School, Gangtok wins a bronze medal in 54 kg Wt. Category in Asian Jr. Boxing Championship recently concluded in Amman's Capital, Jordan from 3rd March to 15 March 2022. In the quarter-final bout, Jayant defeated Kyrgyzstan boxer, Pansher Aliahkmed by a narrow score of 3:2 points and confirmed Bronze Medal for India. In the semifinal, Jayant lost to Thai boxer Thanaphansakon Kalaseeram by 4-1, who went to win the gold. Altogether 355 boxers from 21 nations attended the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman. India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen had sent their best talents to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

  Legends do cry and when they do it... you too cannot hold it back.  The split-decision broke hearts of millions. Today was probably the last time we could see Magnificent Mary in the Olympics. You were graceful in the defeat, you played like a champion and you won our heart. When every Indian sits in-front of the TV set just to watch  MC Mary Kom  then you are truly a legend, the greatest ambassador of the game. Thank You for inspiring women boxing. You are a true champion and a legend forever.

Tshering Sherpa, aged 13 from Adarsh Goan is selected to represent Sikkim at BFI 1st Sub Junior Men National Boxing Championship 2019 to be held at Rhotak, Haryana. The tournament starts from July 2-8, 2019. Tshering Sherpa is coached by Pritam Shilal , who has over the years produced various junior champions. Born to Lakpa Sherpa and Bunu Sherpa, Tshering features at 37 kg event. He is selected by the Selection Committee of Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association

Shantinagar, January 1: Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti congratulated the two female boxers from Singtam that will be participating at 2nd Elite National Women Boxing Championship at Rohtak, Haryana. Sunaina Bardewa (69 kg category) and Som Maya Subba (59 kg category) are among the seven boxers selected to represent Sikkim at the tournament.  In a short program conducted at Shantinagar, members of SGSS offered khadas to the Coach and the two boxers and wished them success in the tournament. Small amount of financial support was also handed over to the Coach. SINGTAM, MAY 3: Singtam Boxing Club, a three year old boxing club had a dream run at the recently concluded 14 th State Level Boxing championship that was held at Sonamati Memorial Government SSS, Khamdong. The boxers from SBC went on to win Sub-Junior Girls Championship while they stood second at the Sub-Junior Boys Championship. Pritam Shilal, coach of Singtam Boxing Club has said his young boxers went on to win 17 medals that included six gold, four silver and seven bronze medals. It was a great achievement that Pratik Chettri and Kumari Sanyasi, my students were adjudged Best Boxer of the tournament in boys and girls category, added the proud coach. SINGTAM, JANUARY 7: Taran Pradhan from Bardang has won a bronze medal in 56 kg at boxing event at recently held National Rural Sports Competition Group V at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.   The competition held from December 27 – 30 was organised by Mission Directorate – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Taran Pradhan has thanked Pritam Shilal, his boxing coach for his triumph. He further thanked the state government for providing the platform and opportunity to showcase his skills.     Pradhan was among 10 boxers from Sikkim who was selected to represent the state after his successful stint at Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan selections held at different parts of Sikkim. SINGTAM, JANUARY 30:  6th Winter Football Cum Boxing Coaching Camp organised by GVS Pendam Football Academy at CPSSS Play Ground in Central Pendam concluded on January 26. Many upcoming footballers and boxers had participated at the 16 day camp that started on January 10. The trainers of the camp were Michael Lepcha and Pritam Shilal. GVS Pendam Football Academy had been organizing such Coaching Camp since 2007 especially for the rural children to provide them necessary knowledge about the game of football and equally select the best ones for the Football Academy. This year the Academy had included the boxing camp to encourage the young children of rural area. Pritam Shilal, boxing coach had been working hard in the West Pendam Constituency for the development of the boxing game among the younger generations.
