ROTARY CAREER COUNSELING FOR ENCHEY STUDENTS

GANGTOK, May 11: A day long carrier guidance workshop was held today at Enchey School auditorium under the aegis of Rotary Club of Gangtok eyeing an ideal platform for students who otherwise lack proper carrier counseling.

The workshop today was attended by eight specialised resource persons from different fields of work monitoring and guiding 182 students towards the right direction in their further studies. Reportedly held for the first time, the workshop caters to the academic need of the students.

“There is no dearth of talent among us, be it sports or academic performance. But this however, needs to be properly channeled”, pointed the Principal of Enchey School GD Bhutia.

With the Principal, Enchey School as chief guest, the workshop today was attended by Rotarian PK Dong, Advisor to Tourism Department and Rotarian Sanjeev Pakathra, President, Rotary Club. Addressing the students’ assemblage, the chief guest asked the final year students to be more focused in pursuing their further studies adding that carrier counseling also plays a key role in shaping the future of a student. Mr. Bhutia also expressed his gratitude to the resource persons for imparting obliging knowledge and information to the students.

The resource persons for the programme included Ms Indira Singh, Lecturer, Hotel Management Institute, Ms Nisha Bangar, Career Counselor, Major Samir Kausal, Lisa Mathew from nursing services, Rotaract Osmand from the banking sector, Mingma Sherpa, Air Hostess and Rotract PK Dong who offered students with valuable suggestions for their career choices.

    I am an ex student of Enchey school. I wish we had such career counselling program during our school days. During that time, (18 years ago), it was like finish school then college/marriage/teaching jobs.
    I'm doing fine for whatever reasons, but would have appreciate if I had such opportunities for open guidence.
