Ramayan is incomplete
without three scenes 'wonder' Manthara portrayed by ever efficient late Lalita
Pawar. Manthara was a
favourite maid of Queen Kaikeyi. She convinces the queen to make King Dasratha
to fulfill her long forgotten two boons.Thus the story of Ramayan gets started.
Her next scene is with Prince Shatrughna, when the Prince after knowing the
evil idea of Manthara tries to assault her. Lastly after returning from 14
years of exile, Lord Rama goes to meet Manthara at the prison. Manthara falls
into his feet and apologizes for all her sins on which Rama forgives her.
The veteran of 700 plus
films who had won Filmfare Award and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for acting
made more name for her role of Manthara. Personally i liked her role in Anari
as Mrs. D'sa.
