'The Blue Lagoon' (1949) dubbed as 'Samundar ki Sundari' in hindi

I bought an old Hindi film promotional page from an unknown magazine from OP Biyani, my old-time Kanpur hobby dealer. The black-and-white poster with foreign looks in a Hindi film mentioned was enough to create curiosity for me. The film was named Samundar ki Sindari, produced by J. Arthur Rank, and distributed by Eagle-Lion Distributors (India). The poster mentioned the lead actors and actresses as Jean Simmons (an Academy Award winner) and Donald Houston (Debonair Pride Discovery). The film played in packed houses at Regal New Delhi, Jagat & Imperial - Delhi, City Light - Amritsar, and Orient - Dehradun

Returning to the present, I received that page in my hands. I was eager to know about Jean Simmons. She was an actress and singer who was involved in cinema until 1996. She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for Guys and Dolls in 1955 but was twice nominated for Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress in Hamlet (1948) and Best Actress in The Happy Ending (1969). 1955 she received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for Guys and Dolls.

I checked about the Hindi film Samundar ki Sindari on the internet, but nothing was found. Later, while searching for more on the lead actor and actress, I found a photograph that was used on the poster I had in my hand. The poster is from the 1949 English film The Blue LagoonThe film was a big hit, and its sequels were remade in 1980, 1991, and 2014. Teri Baahon Mein, starring Mohnish Behl and Ayesha Dutt, was based on The Blue Lagoon in India.

So this poster seems to be a Hindi dubbed film. But the internet says Jurassic Park was the first English movie to be dubbed in Hindi.

JANHA BAGCHA TEESTA RANGIT

This was a national song of Sikkim sung in the Nepali language during the monarchy system. During the merger with India, the song got banned and later re-released. Two words on the 8th para, which earlier said 'Rajah rah Rani,' were replaced with "Janmah bhumi."     This song was dedicated to the King and Queen of Sikkim. The song lyrics were penned by Sanu Lama, and the music was composed by Dushyant Lama.  The song was first sung on the birth anniversary of Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal on April 4, 1970, at Gangtok by Aruna Lama, Dawa Lama, and Manikamal Chettri.    JANHA BAGCHA TEESTA RANGIT,  JAHAN KANCHENDZONGA SEER   YEHI HO HAMRO DHANA KO DESH,  TAPAWAN HO PYARO SIKKIM     INTERLUDE     PHULCHAN YEHA AANGANAI MAA,  CHAAP , GURAS, SUNAKHARI   SWARGASARI SUNDAR DESH KO  HAMRO PYARO PYARO JANMAHBHUMI     JANHA BAGCHA……     BATASHLE BOKCHAA YAHA,  TATHAGAT KO AAMAR WAANI ...

Baba Harbhajan Singh: A story of a dead sepoy

He has defeated death. Believe it or not, but it is true, a kind story in the world- a man from an Indian army on a Nathula border is still doing his duty even after his death some three decades back. 60km from Gangtok towards the panoramic view of the Nathula landscape, a road leads towards the valley of Kupup. Here is the shrine of Baba Harbhajan, popularly known as Baba Mandir. Baba Harbhajan has been guarding the international boundary of the two Asian giants, China and India, over the last three decades. But believe me, he does it alone. Even the army men on the other side of the International Wall confirmed that they had seen a man riding a horse all alone patrolling the border.  Born in Brondal village of Kapurthala, Punjab, Harbhajan Singh joined the 23 rd Punjab Battalion in February 1966 as a sepoy. The year 1968, when the states of Sikkim and North Bengal were under the rage of great natural disasters where, landslides, floods, and heavy rain had taken thousan...
