  26.06.21 : Members of Shantingar Gaon Sudhar Samiti welcomed Acharya Keshav Khanal who was returning from Farakha after doing funeral rites of 80 asthis. He had been doing the funeral rites of covid victims without any financial benefits since the first covid death at Jalipool crematorium. It is his free service to humanity. He is from Aho, East Sikkim and Secretary of Hindu Swabhiman, Sikkim Branch.

  FIRST IN SIKKIM SERIES: This paperclip takes you back to 2006 when Denzong Water Industry, the first spring mineral water plant of Sikkim, was set up at Chisopani, 3 km from Singtam. This water plant, though not in working condition today, is on the way to Sakyong Chisopani JHS, where I work as a primary teacher. I know Shri SK Gurung, a socially active individual and a very good friend of our school. He has provided us different materials over the course of time and was one of the key people who helped our then Sakyong Chisopani Primary School move on to Sakyong Chisopani JHS.  Coming back to the water plant, I do not know how the idea of a water plant was initiated in this area in the mid-2000s, but ever since I joined the school in 2013, the biggest hurdle this village faces is the water crisis. Even though the efforts need appreciation.

21.06.2021 : The 69th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal in Rhenock (East Sikkim) organized International Yoga Day. All force personnel, from the Border Out Post at Lungthung (at a height of 12,725 feet) to the headquarters of the 69th Battalion in Rhenock, participated in the event. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all necessary precautions were taken, including social distancing, to ensure the safety of the unit personnel during the event.

  Aradhana Hindi film gave to the world a new star in Rajesh Khanna. The beauty of Darjeeling mesmerized the cine watchers. Amidst all this, my fantasy lay in a Numer Plate used in the vehicle that Rajesh Khanna drives in most of the shot. The number plate read - SKM 701. Oh My God, that’s Sikkim's Number Plate !! When I first shared this fantastic coincidence on my Facebook page, Kazeeman Chhetri, one of the readers, commented. This Willy Jeep was owned by the late Krishna Chandra Pradhan of the Development Area, Gangtok. He further wrote that during his school days in  the 1970s, this vehicle used to be parked near his residence.

Rangpo has an emotional attachment to me; my mother was a government school teacher, and I spent the first two years of my life there. Rangpo Government School (1980) This photo presentation is from a series of photographs dating to 1910 attributed to Absolute Vintage Photos. Rangpo, a business hub and a historic town, is today a vital border town of Sikkim, the gateway to eastern Sikkim. Since the monarchy days, the vehicles have stopped being checked, and foreigners need the required documents even to this day.
