Gangtok, April 22, 2025: The Government of Sikkim has declared a three-day State of mourning following the death of His Holiness Pope Francis, Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, on April 21, 2025. As per the official notification issued by the Home Department, State mourning will be observed throughout Sikkim on April 22 (Tuesday) and April 23 (Wednesday). An additional day of mourning will be observed on the day of the funeral, the date of which will be communicated later. During the mourning period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast wherever it is flown regularly, and there will be no official entertainment. The order, issued in the governor's name, was signed by R. Telang, IAS, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Sikkim.
