Air Hostess Academy (AHA) is a pioneer in the development and nourishment of skilled manpower for the service industry and is the first of its kind in India. Set up in 1997, AHA received the Education Training Ratna Award and is also the recipient of Golden Peacock Award for Innovative Training for two consecutive years. AHA started with only three students but the stupendous response and the foresight of its chief executive officer Mr. Akash Gupta and the director Ms. Sapna Gupta led to its phenomenal growth.

A recipient of the Rotary Ratna Award, AHA is the first institute of its own kind in the world to receive a validation for both its one year and two year diploma from the University of Cambridge, International Examinations (CIE) - UK. The comprehensive training module adopted by AHA has produced the desired results which led the Service industry to sit up and take notice. The first batch of AHA was placed in various renowned Airlines and Hotels and the recruits achieved considerable success in their respective fields. Buoyed by the encouraging response by the service sector, AHA decided to spread their wings and many more centers of the institute followed.

Apart from catering to the aviation industry AHA provides training to the entire Service Industry including aviation, hotel, air catering organizations, ground services and MNC etc. The selection of the students for the academy is done carefully and each batch is limited to a manageable number, enabling them to give personal attention to each student. The design of the curriculum is based on the demands of the service industry (Aviation, Hotels, Tourism and Hospitality sector). Candidates aspiring for a successful career in the service Sector can look forward to the course in: -
Aviation & Hospitality Management (Diploma Course) – Duration one year.
Diploma course in Global Aviation & Hospitality Management- Duration two years.
Candidates are subjected to a comprehensive training, which includes -Essential Cabin Crew Training, Foreign Language – German, Hotel Management, International Ticketing & Tourism, Personality Development and Public Relations, Communication, First Aid training from The Red Cross Society, Industrial Training – in any of the leading Hotels or Catering Service organizations (preference given to only outstanding / deserving candidates) and In-Flight & In-House Training at Hospitality industry. Recently swimming has also been included in AHA’s curriculum.
AHA has a faculty of renowned professionals from the Aviation, Hotel and Tourism industry. They include professionals from Domestic and International Airlines, Hotels, Head of Human Resource from Airlines and Hotels, Customer Care / Service professionals.

On that day, Sikkim Citizens, Subject holder (Sikkimese) became Indian Citizen according to “Sikkim (Citizenship) Order, 1975” which says “Every person who immediately before the 26th day of April, 1975 was a Sikkim Subject under the Sikkim Subject Regulation 1961, shall be deemed to have become a citizen of India on that day”. As the Indian Constitution does not provide dual citizenship and there exist only citizenship for the whole of country, therefore, the regulation which provided Sikkim Citizenship (Subjects) commonly known as “Sikkim Subject Regulation Act, 1961” was repealed on 13th Sep 1975 according to “Adaptation of Sikkim Laws (No.1) Order” power conferred by clause (l) of Article 371-F of the Constitution which took effect from 26th April 1975 (appointed day). The last Chogyal (King) of Sikkim

BY SHITAL PRADHAN I was not born when Sikkim became the 22nd state of the Indian Union, and the only information I have about the political identity of my Sikkim comes from literary knowledge and conversations with elderly people. I personally believe that no nation can develop unless its history, culture, and heritage are preserved. Sikkim, though now part of India, bears the responsibility of every Sikkimese to safeguard its past glory. Interestingly, a few days ago, my college-going nephew surprised me when he mentioned that a man named STNM could be the last Chogyal, while one of my colleagues added that TNA and TNSSS also bear the name of the last Chogyal. Well, is this the future of Sikkim? If we cannot enable the younger generation to connect with the facts and authenticity of Sikkim, the state will surely lose its vivacious historical pages.
