Gangtok: Diamond jubilee of 11th Gorkha Rifles, of which the legendary Hony. Capatain Ganju Lama was one among the many heroes from Sikkim who served the regiment and was awarded the Victoria Cross, was celebrated in March 8 and 9.A large number of ex-servicemen with their families came to Gangtok to participate in the celebration, informs a press release from Headquarters of 17 Mountain Division here. The 2-day festivities commenced with a Sainik Sammelan led by Maj Gen Kr VS Lalotra, GOC 17 Mountain Division and concluded with a Barakhana in which about 300 ex-servicemen joined with their families, the release said.
