Montek Singh Ahluwalia tours Namchi Sikkim deserves to be applauded for its achievements: Ahluwalia

NAMCHI, March 16:
The Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia visited several places in and around Namchi on March 15.
Dr. Ahluwalia arrived at Namchi Helipad at around 9:45 am where he was received by the State Tourism Minister, RB Subba.
After a traditional reception by the people of Namchi, the Deputy Chairman visited the 135 ft statue of Guru Padmasambhava at Samdruptse, where he offered prayers and spent at least one hour at the hill top here.
Dr Ahluwalia was then visited the construction site of the Chaar Dhaam at Solophok.
While praising the State Government for the “good work” being done at the Chaar Dhaam, Dr Ahluwalia said that the construction of Chaar Dhaam was a “wonderful job done by the government.” He also spent an hour here interacting with the officials of the construction company and also took a lot of photographs of the construction site.
This was followed to a trip to the Mainam Nursery situated below the Chaar Dhaam.
Talking with the media-persons, the Deputy Chairman lavished praises on the State Government and said, “Although Sikkim is known as the State having a majority of Buddhists, but it has set an example in binding together the religious and cultural diversity of the country.”
“After arriving here, I found that Sikkim was doing well in each and every field. I congratulate the Chief Minister and the people of Sikkim for this tremendous achievement. The developmental works done by the government here is really praiseworthy. Sikkim deserves to be applauded,” Dr Ahluwalia told mediapersons.
Talking on the developmental activities done by the State Government he said, “The Chaar Dhaam will be an added attraction of the State, and this will lead to a huge growth in pilgrimage tourism,” he said.
He was accompanied by the Tourism Minister RB Subba, Zilla Adakshya and Upadakshya South, DC South D Anandan, SP South GK Verma and other officials of Namchi Sub Division.
On March 14, the Deputy Chairman inaugurated the first International Flower Show at Saramsa in East Sikkim.
