Peace march for Pachen Lama crosses Singtam



More than 200 Tibetans silently walked past Singtam today morning around 8.30 am as their peace march heads for Salugara, Siliguri, West Bengal. The rally started from Namnang, Gangtok today early morning. The occasion marks the 30th birth anniversary of Pachen Lama (Gedhun Choekyi Nyima), an important Buddhist figure only next to Dalai Lama.

CM promises to make youth equal partners in development


Mining, 7th April: Pawan Chamling reached Mining, Rangpo, in East Sikkim today on the 9th day of the 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally. People from Tumin Lingee, Martam Rumtek, Khamdong Singtam and West Pendam constituencies joined in the event. The event was widely streamed and about 3 lakh people tuned in on social media.




Chamling informed the crowd of SDF’s development plans for the state. Some of these included sanctioning of all pending land allotment cases within 100 days of formation of government, regularisation of Muster Roll (MR) and Ad-hoc jobs, MR jobs to be given to the wife of driver in case of accidental death of the husband, provision of a one-time grant of Rs 5 lakh to those wanting to start new professional businesses, internet and wi-fi connection to be provided to every Gram Panchayat level. He also thanked all Self-help Groups (SHG) for doing tremendous work in the state and added that Rs 1 lakh will be provided to all SHGs.
He further stated that SDF stands for “Youth-first” policy which aims to make the youth active partners in development. In doing so, he said that the party will start a youth forum and youth assembly through which the youth will have more say in the decision-making process. He has promised to give jobs to those left out families of OFOJ schemes within 100 days of forming the government. He also talked about the new scheme that the SDF government is planning to implement in their next term that is the “One person one profession” which aims at empowering each family with a skill.
He urged the people to vote once again in favour of SDF party in the upcoming elections reminding people of the great responsibility of voting and warning people to be wary of seasonal politicians, who will disappear immediately after the elections and betray them. Gas cylinder will be supplied to doorstep.
On the previous 8 days of the Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally, Pawan Chamling addressed the public in Soreng, Mangan, Gagtok, Namthang, Rorathang, Kabi, Ravangla and Geyzing. Tomorrow he will be addressing the public in Jorethang.
The election to the 32-member Sikkim Assembly is being held on 11th April alongside the Lok Sabha election.

CM says education will be made free up to post-graduation level

Ravangla, 5th April: Pawan Chamling reached Ravangla today on the 7th day of the 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally. People from Barfung, Temi-Namphing, Rangang-Yangang, and Sangha constituencies joined in the event. The event was widely streamed and about 3 lakh people tuned in on social media.

Chamling informed the crowd of SDF’s development plans for the state. He said that the ropeway and skywalk in Yangang which is currently under construction will lead to the development of the constituency into a tourist hot-spot, which will ultimately lead to the overall development of the state. He further added that world-class sewage management will be developed in Ravangla. Other key promises made by the CM include making a housing colony for landless and homeless people, Rs 5,000 to be provided as pension to every ex-Panchayat, doubling of Panchayat salary in the coming term, regularising of government services, and One Family One Job scheme.

He further stated that education is a key priority of the SDF government and the government’s policy to provide free education up till the college level will continue. He promised will further be taken forward to make education free up to the post-graduation level.

Commenting on the recent spate of violence undertaken by SKM he said, “SKM party is a party that thrives on violence. The recent violence being undertaken by the party all over Sikkim is shameful and condemnable and will never be accepted by the people of Sikkim”.

KB Rai reaches to the public of Rongli, Chujachen and Kingstone

RONGLI, APRIL 4: “SDF party had always had a stronghold at 20-Chujachen Constituency and never had the public of Chujahen lost faith at the ruling party and this time too I am sure we will receive the highest margin from this constituency”, said KB Rai, candidate SDF from 20 - Chujachen Constituency at the program held at the heart of Rongli bazaar. 

Rai further spoke about his plans for the better development of this region. Also, present on the occasion were the powerhouse political leaders in Puran Gurung and Bikram Pradhan, former MLAs from 20-Chujachen Constituency, Indra Pradhan, Chairman SWC, and others. Door-to-door interaction with the public of the lower bazaar was also done.





On the earlier day, the leaders of SDF party conducted door to door visits at the Chujachen villages that included Chujachen, Sungdung, Pam, Lungchok, Lok data, and others. Rai met with the public of the area. He listened to different matters placed by the public and assured full support and help from his side. KB Rai also addressed the gathered crowds at Kingstone for the general public Aritar GPU. 
Other political leaders to speak on the occasion included Shakti Prasad Adhikari, Puran Gurung, and Bikram Pradhan. Rai also interacted with the people of Kingstone, Maney dara, Kuttitar, Agrigaon.

SDF President Pawan Chamling releases filmmaker Praja Pradhan’s short films

SINGTAM, APRIL 04: Pawan Chamling, President of Sikkim Democratic Front, officially launched seven short films on politics at the Rorathang public meet. Four of the short films were directed by Praja Pradhan, a Sang Nazitam-based filmmaker, while the other three, titled Sikkim Darpan, were directed by Uttam Pradhan, a famed actor from Sikkim.




Speaking on the occasion, Praja Pradhan said he is lucky to be part of a successful SDF party, and each of the short films is based on supporting the party that is for the people of Sikkim and for the people of Sikkim. Artists of the shirt films included Dilip Raimajhi, Uttam Pradhan, Praja Pradhan, Ram Sharma and others. The films were shot in different locales of Sikkim, added Pradhan.

CM talks about making Chujachen the biggest tourist attraction in East Sikkim


 Rorathang, 2nd April: Pawan Chamling reached Rorathang today on the 5th day of the 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally. People from Rhenock, Chujachen and Gnathang Machong joined the event. The event was widely streamed and about 3 lakh people tuned in on social media.
Addressing the public, he said that, “Drinking water and electricity works will be completed on priority”. He further added that “In the next five years, development of Sikkim will be taken to global standards and we will make Sikkim the first state in the county to be completely free of kutcha houses”.
He talked about some key promises including all the programmes of the government will be youth centric and youth will be made partners in the development process, fulfilling all the pending cases related to power projects, forest land refugee, Singtam school will be upgraded to senior secondary school, the biggest tourist spot will be built in Chujachen which will be the biggest in East Sikkim, Pakyong and Soreng will be made separate districts and North District Development Council will be inaugurated in North District.
He urged the people to vote once again in favour of SDF party in the upcoming elections saying that “We are not a party with seasonal leaders, we are a party with seasoned leaders. We are not a party which experiments with people's future. We are a party which has 25 years of experienced leadership. We are not a programme less party. We have a full proof programme to serve the Sikkimese people for a lifetime”.

Pawan Chamling talks about new programme of ‘Open Democracy’ at Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally

Namthang, 1st April: Pawan Chamling reached Kateng under Namthang-Rateypani constituency today on the 4th day of the 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally. People from the neighbouring Melli constituency joined in. The event was widely streamed and about 3 lakh people tuned in on social media.
Addressing the public, he said that, “The first priority of the SDF government is to provide best water supply to all our citizens here and extension and widening of all roads across Sikkim”. He further added that “Our next SDF government will establish new sustainable tourist spots in Temi Tarku which will develop this area as a major tourist attraction and provide employment to the residents of these constituencies”.




He talked about some key promises including ensuring that the integrity of the old laws of Sikkim are maintained and protected, developing a biodiversity park for research, developing public auditoriums and playgrounds in Namthang and Melli and distribution of LPG gas cylinders to every household by suppliers.
He further talked about a new programme called ‘Open Democracy’, wherein one day during every Assembly session will be observed as Janta Raj Diwas. On that day, public interest issues will be directly discussed and passed in the House after thorough deliberation. People can register the public interest issues and demands through an organized mechanism of toll-free helpline numbers and the same would be compiled and submitted in the Assembly. This new idea of dedicating one whole day to address issues, demands and genuine grievances of the public in the State Legislative Assembly will be the first such initiative anywhere in the world. Through this programme, the voice of people will directly reach the highest decision-making forum in the State.
