Olympian Jas Lal Pradhan felicitated at Singtam

February 15, Singtam: Jas Lal Pradhan, Arjuna Awardee, Asian Games Gold Medalist, and Olympian was felicitated by Singtam Boxing Club at a felicitation program held at Badminton Court, New Shopping Complex, Singtam. He was recently elected as the Vice President of the Boxing Federation of India and President of East Zone. 


Jas Lal Pradhan was the Chief Guest of the day while KB Baniya, Retired Army from Singtam was the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished guests included Sundar Rai (AEO – Khamdong BAC), TT Bhutia (Principal – Sirwani SS), Sangay Bhutia (Assistant Manager – SBS), Dr. JB Gurung (President – Singtam Boxing Association), Krishna Chettri (President – Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti), CL Rai (Retd. JD, Sports Department), Rajen Baniya, Johny Rai, Praja Pradhan, and others. The program was organized by Pritam Shilal, Coach, Singtam Boxing Club. 


Pritam Shilal in his welcome speech thanked every individual and organization that has helped his boxing club grow since its establishment in 2012. KB Baniya, Retired Army from Singtam presented the memento to Jas Lal Pradhan. 
Prava Gazmer, a boxing talent from Dochum, Sirwani, East Sikkim was also presented with a letter of appreciation by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. She had been selected at Boxing Training Centre, NCOE, Rohtak, Haryana under Khelo India. 


Jas Lal Pradhan in his speech appreciated the efforts of the Singtam Boxing Club. He congratulated Pritam Shilal for his selfless efforts. Pradhan further added he would give his best to uplift the club. Other people to speak on the occasion were Sundar Rai, TT Bhutia, and Krishna Chettri.

CBSE: ARUNACHAL PRADESH AND SIKKIM, PUSHED GUWAHATI TO FLOOR

Guwahati, June 1: When students in Delhi were flashing their 90 per cents and doing their high-fives, the Central Board of Secondary Education was looking for reasons for the below-par performance of students in the Guwahati region, comprising the seven states of the Northeast and Sikkim. Among the six regions where the board conducts Standard X examinations, Guwahati region has the lowest pass percentage - a mere 56 per cent. Ajmer region registered a staggering 93.87 pass per cent, the highest. A post-result analysis by the board revealed that poor performance by government schools in two states, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, pushed Guwahati to the bottom in the list. K.K. Choudhury, the regional officer of CBSE (Guwahati), said the two states pulled down the pass percentage of the entire region.
