All Sikkim Divyang Ekta Association thanks WCDD Department for 3 days program

18.02.23: The Sikkim Government's Women and Child Development Department organized a three-day (February 15-17) capacity building and counselling for persons with disabilities and promotion of NGOs for the formation of National Trust/Act Advocacy Groups, and Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities. More than 70 participants participated. The Minister of Women and Child Development, Sanjeet Kharel, inaugurated a program at Saramsa Enclave, near Saramsa Garden. 




Members of the All Sikkim Divyang Ekta Association thanked the Women and Child Development Department and everyone who took part in the three-day program. The program was very helpful and much needed. "The program was of high significance, and we all benefited from it," they all echoed.

All Sikkim Divyang Ekta Association has expressed its appreciation to Secretary Ganga D Pradhan (IAS) (WCDD), Principal Director Normit Lepcha (WCDD), Joint Commissioner Dr. M.B. Philatelist Roshan Prasad wins Silver at AMRITPEX 2023

16.02.23, Singtam: Roshan Prasad, a popular philatelist from Sikkim wins a Silver at AMRITPEX 2023 National Philatelic Exhibition. The event was held in Delhi from 11th to 15th February 2023 and organized by The Department of Posts, Government of India in consultation with the Ministry of Culture and Philatelic Congress of India.



Prasad wins his sixth medal in the National Philatelic Exhibition on his theme ‘The story of Cricket’, a five-frame exhibit of cricket philately. Roshan Prasad was the lone participant from Sikkim at AMRIPEX 2023 and we all feel proud of his achievement said Ganesh Pradhan, President, of Sikkim Philatelic Society.

Roshan Prasad is an International philatelic medalist and also an Indian Philatelic Special Cover designer and author. Sikkim Philatelic Society also congratulates Vivek Yonzone, Secretary, ALPINE Philatelic and Numismatic Society (Darjeeling) for his silver at the same event, reads the press release.



More than 20,000 Exhibits from 500 Philatelists in both competitive and invitee class was displayed in five days event. During the five-day exhibition, a number of workshops, seminars, panel discussions and cultural events and activities for children, the release of commemorative postage stamps, the release of special covers and picture postcards were organized.

Governor designate Lakshman Prasad Acharya welcomed at Sikkim

Gangtok, February 15 (IPR): Hon'ble Governor designate of Sikkim Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya was received and welcomed by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang at Raj Bhawan today.






The Governor designate will be sworn in as the new Governor of Sikkim on 16th February 2023 at Raj Bhawan, Gangtok.

Sikkim Defeats Mizoram By 9 Wickets And Ends The Season With A Win

The U25 Men’s team of Sikkim wins their match against Mizoram by 9 wickets today at Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo in the Col.C.K Nayudu Trophy.

Mizoram won the toss and choose to bat first and in the first innings Sikkim thrashed the opponent and restricted them to a total of 60 runs. MD Talim took 5 wickets conceding just 22 runs in 11 overs. Sikkim made 161 runs in the first innings where Saurav Kr Prasad made 33 runs, Anwesh Karan Sharma 31, Arun Chettri 21, Ingsho Limboo 19, and Pranesh Chettri 16.



In the second innings, Sikkim built the pressure on the opponent by taking early wickets and were all-out for 135 runs giving the target of just 35 runs to win. Tarun Sharma took 5 wickets in 15.2 overs conceding just 29 runs. Aadil Alam took 2 wickets, Rahul Kumar and Anwesh took 1 wicket each. Sikkim won the match in 35 overs where Arun scored 25 runs, Roshan Prasad 5 not out, and Tarun 1 not out.

SICA mentions that the State had a massive opportunity to play with the big teams from the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura, and Punjab and it is a privilege for us and a significant learning opportunity for our team to play and learn the different aspects of the game from them.

SICA holds ‘Consultation Meeting’ with the District Conveners and 'A' Division Club Representatives

 SICA Executive body inclusive of Councilor Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal, Honorary Secretary Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Treasurer Mr Mukesh Agarwal and Joint Secretary Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Aswin Oberoi Senior Member, Tournament Selection committee, SICA called on a meeting with the Selectors, District Convenors and 'A Division Club Representatives' to discuss matters relating to the upcoming SICA Women’s and Men’s Tournament.



This consultative meeting was attended by 8 registered Senior Men’s A division clubs, 8 registered Senior Women’s A division clubs and conveners from 6 districts of Sikkim. 

Rules pertaining to team formation and combination were discussed. The participants gave multiple suggestions with regards to the development of Cricket in the state and decided on formulating a plan that would provide equal opportunities to all players from the state.

Match dates are to be set consultatively with all districts within the next 10 days. The other division representatives are advised to start looking for and preparing venues for B & C Division tournaments across the districts. They will begin immediately after the 'A' Division matches come to an end.

SICA Executives Meets Players Ahead Of First Ever Inter-Zonal Tournament

RANGPO, February 9, 2023: The Executive Members of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) met the Players and support staff who are selected for the first-ever Inter-Zonal Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. Miss Leezamit Lepcha, Miss Pranita Chettri and Miss Yudenmit Lepcha will be representing the Northeast Zone from Sikkim, while the Senior Physiotherapist of SICA Miss Sheril Lepcha has been appointed as the Physiotherapist of the team. 



While addressing the players and support staff the Honorary Secretary Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Jt. Secretary Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, Councillor Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal and Member Mr Rajen Gurung gave a special thanks to Miss Kikam Bhutia - Senior women’s coach, who on the call from SICA spared her time and trained the girls before leaving for the tournament. The executives on behalf of the entire Sikkim Cricket Association wish the team the best of luck for the upcoming tournament.

Singtam's Winter Badminton Coaching Camp concludes

09.02.23: The Winter Badminton Coaching Camp organized by Singtam Badminton Club concluded with the distribution of participating certificates. A small function was held at the Badminton Court, Indoor Sports Complex, Lal Bazaar, Singtam. The camp was held from January 2nd till January 31st, 2023. 



The SBC General Secretary, Rajen Baniya, congratulated the participants for their efforts and persistence. He told us that during the month-long coaching camp, 38 aspiring players, both boys and girls, participated in two sessions, one in the morning and one evening. Special thanks and congratulations were also extended to Atul Khawas, the coach. A certificate of completion was presented to the participants by Madan Tamang and Kiran Pradhan, Advisors of SBC.

Congratulation to Amisha Kami for 74th Republic Day participation

06.02.23: I congratulate Amisha Kami for representing the state of Sikkim at the 74th Republic Day in Delhi. She is a former student of Sakyong Chisopani JHS and currently studies at Singtam SSS in Class X.

More than 1.3 million NCC cadets applied for participation. Still, only 2,155 (including 710 girls) got a chance to participate. Four NCC Cadets from our Sikkim state were selected for the highest event in various disciplines. All the cadets had taken part in a month-long camp in Delhi. 

Among the state representatives, Amisha Kami, 1 Sikkim BN, was the only singer. She was the finalist at the national level Vocal Music - Classical (Female) Category at the National Level Kala Utsav 2021-2022 held at NCERT, New Delhi. Congratulation and blessings to you.

Three Sikkim Players In NE Zone Team

Three women cricketers from Sikkim have been selected to represent North East Zone in the Inter-Zonal Senior Women’s One-Day Tournament, scheduled to start on 12th February.



The women players for the North East Zone was shortlisted at a meeting of selectors and office bearers of North East state cricket bodies held in Guwahati on 3rd February. The meeting had the presence of Mamon Majumdar, Member, Apex Council, BCCI, and Nabam Vivek, Zonal Convener.

Sikkim Cricket Association was represented by President Tika Subba, Honorary Secretary Rinzing Nangyal Bhutia and Selector Karma Thendup.

Leezamit Lepcha, Yudenmit Lepcha and Pranita Chettri have made the cut in 15-member squad, while Tshering Ongmu Lepcha has been named as one of the standby players. They are key players in Sikkim women’s team, and were selected in North East Zone team on the basis of their performance this season.

Limatola Ao will lead the North East Zone, while Nabam Yapu has been named her deputy.

Likewise, Sheryl Lepcha has been named the physiotherapist of North East Zone team. Sheryl is one of the most experienced sports physiotherapists in the North East and has been with Sikkim women’s team since 2018.

The North East Zone will play two matches in league stage of the tournament – against East Zone on 12th February and against North Zone on 13th February. Both matches will be played at Hyderabad.

The North East Zone is featuring in the women’s zonal tournament for the first time.

The North East Zone team is a combined team of players from six North East states, viz., Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim.

SGREWA Singtam Branch condemn referring Sikkimey Nepalese as "foreigners"

03.02.23 - At a weekly meeting of the Sikkim Government Retired Employee Welfare Association, Singtam Branch, today in its office at Mandi Bazaar, Singtam, the following resolutions were adopted.


1. The SGREWA, Singtam Branch condemns the verdict referring to Sikkimey Nepalese as "foreigners" and wiping out our identity, the word 'Sikkimey'. 

2. SGREWA Singtam wholeheartedly supports the efforts of JAC in working towards the re-tarnishing of the identity of the Nepali community as a foreigner.

3. The organization supports peaceful movements and opposes violence.

New Sikkim Cricket Association body takes control of the SICA Office

The New Executive body of SICA takes charge of the office at Mining Ground, Rangpo and conducts an inspection of the premises. President - Mr Tika Subba, Vice President - Mr Dinesh Khator, Honorary Secretary - Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Joint Secretary - Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, Treasurer - Mr Mukesh Agarwal, Councillor - Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal were present to address a gathering of all Players, District bodies, Office employees including Support Staff, Ground Staff and all workers. 

The meeting and the welcome ceremony were conducted by the office staff and moderated by the Office Superintendent Mr Karma Namgyal Bhutia. In the interactive program, the moderator briefed the new body of the “Men in position”, and their administrative roles and introduced the staff to the new executive body. 


The President, Mr Tika Subba, understanding the challenges and opportunities, addressed the gathering about the upcoming changes the body plans to implement, which include:

- All districts to get equal opportunity - Introduce Center of Excellence all across the state 

- Tie up with potential institutes, schools and colleges across the state for the upliftment of the game and conducting Inter School Tournaments 

- Involvement of all stakeholders at the decision-making level and opportunity to be provided equally. 

- Ban on Liquor and Tobacco products in SICA periphery. 

- Memorial Tournament to be organised in the name of Lt. Binod Pradhan, Fr President, SICA 

- Revival of Kalu Ram Thirani Cup and Murray Cup.

Kikam Bhutia
The Vice President, Mr Dinesh Khator shared a brief history of SICA with the gathering. He ensured that the new body will ensure transparency in all its dealings and funds will be utilised in a proper manner. He emphasised the importance of players, executives, admin staff, support staff and ground staff to everyone and that it should run like a well-oiled machine. He stated that anyone who becomes a part of SICA should be for the love of the game and that the executive body is open to any ideas and suggestions from any stakeholders. 

The Secretary, Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia said that the body is here to represent not us as an individual but the interest of cricket. We are here to serve the game of cricket and to ensure that we work towards the betterment of the game. 


The gathering witnessed roaring applause when the new body introduced the comeback of Miss Kikam Bhutia (Level B Coach) who was working in Meghalaya for the past 2 years and has joined SICA back to serve the state. 

The President and the Honorary Secretary, SICA and Selector immediately left for their first assignment to attend a meeting in Guwahati for the Senior Women One Day Inter Zone Tournament to be held on 3rd February 2023.
