Congratulation to Amisha Kami for 74th Republic Day participation

06.02.23: I congratulate Amisha Kami for representing the state of Sikkim at the 74th Republic Day in Delhi. She is a former student of Sakyong Chisopani JHS and currently studies at Singtam SSS in Class X.

More than 1.3 million NCC cadets applied for participation. Still, only 2,155 (including 710 girls) got a chance to participate. Four NCC Cadets from our Sikkim state were selected for the highest event in various disciplines. All the cadets had taken part in a month-long camp in Delhi.

Among the state representatives, Amisha Kami, 1 Sikkim BN, was the only singer. She was the finalist at the national level Vocal Music - Classical (Female) Category at the National Level Kala Utsav 2021-2022 held at NCERT, New Delhi. Congratulation and blessings to you.

JANHA BAGCHA TEESTA RANGIT

This was a national song of Sikkim sung in the Nepali language during the monarchy system. During the merger with India, the song got banned and later re-released. Two words on the 8th para, which earlier said 'Rajah rah Rani,' were replaced with "Janmah bhumi." This song was dedicated to the King and Queen of Sikkim. The song lyrics were penned by Sanu Lama, and the music was composed by Dushyant Lama. The song was first sung on the birth anniversary of Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal on April 4, 1970, at Gangtok by Aruna Lama, Dawa Lama, and Manikamal Chettri. What is Sikkim History all about?

updated on 22.05.2020 I am not an expert on Sikkim's history, nor am I a prolific historian; my interest in Sikkim's past makes me feel that there are various vacant spaces yet to be filled. When I reviewed different pieces of paper on Sikkim's history, I felt we knew very little about our country. Time has come, and the account of Sikkim's history should be reworked from its primary period, though we know we have inadequate resources. I am sure that capturing the early days of Sikkim (the era when we found the first settlements on this land) in 2020 isn’t as easy as it seems, but we can make an attempt. As a student of Sikkim history, I feel it is not within our perimeter to come up with the entire scene from the beginning until now at once, but we can create a room for our coming generations to carry forward those works we shall leave for them. The formation and consolidation of this national culture have required the expunging of uncomfortable facts and stories that might raise ambiguities and questions. While the selection of what and who is and is not acknowledged to exist (or at least exist in historically important ways) in official Nepali history is complex, social scientists have begun to provide more comprehensive historical accounts of the past through oral histories and re-readings of historical documents.
