Suyog Shital Pradhan stoods 9th at Inter School Chess Championship, Gangtok

20.08.24: Suyog Shital Pradhan secured 9th place in the Under-11 category at the 2024 Inter School Chess Championship, organized by the Sikkim Chess Association and held at Sir TNSSS, Gangtok. He earned 6 points with 5 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses out of nine games. The three-day event saw participation from over 42 schools, with more than 300 competitors.

Congratulations to the Sikkim Chess Association for their successful championship organisation, and a special thanks to our coach, Rohit Gurung, for his unwavering guidance.

Sikkim Government Allows Self-Attestation for Most Documents

In a citizen-friendly move to simplify administrative procedures, the Government of Sikkim, through a notification dated 6th August 2018 (No. 52/Home/2018), has allowed self-attestation of documents for most purposes. Issued by the Home Department and published in the Gazette on 11th August 2018, this notification aligns with the 12th report of the Second Administrative Reforms Commission, emphasising "Citizen Centric Administration – The Heart of Governance." Applicants can now submit self-attested copies of documents for admission in educational institutions and for employment in government departments, provided they can read and understand the documents. This is how Singtam looks from Google Earth! Singtam is a town in the East district of Sikkim. Singtam is often referred to as the business capital of Sikkim since it connects the four districts of Sikkim. Singtam comes from a Lepcha word that says about a place where logs were collected. It had been known for ages that the rivers used to carry tree logs from distant places and leave along the bank of Singtam. All the places of Singtam Lal bazaar were once river banks. Singtam is better known among the folks for its Government Fruit Preservation Factory located at Shantinagar, the only motorable tunnel in the state at Toppakhani and the oldest iron bridge of Sikkim at the heart of the town.
