SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 24:  More than twelve members of Shri Satya Sai Bhajan Mandali, Shantinagar visited Old Age Home at Jalipool to celebrate the 88th birth anniversary of Shri Satya Sai Baba, yesterday. They presented Shawls and food items to eight male and three female people out there.  They also handed over a cash donation to the Ishwaramma Samittee, Jalipool. On the second stage of the program; an evening program as held at Sai Mandir, Shantinagar. Chandra Kala Mangar was felicitated with a shawl and a photo frame of Bhagwan Baba. Renu Sharma performed the dweep prajwalan. It was followed by the Gayatari and Sai Gayatri chants.  Burning of 108 lamps was held. HN Sharma, Senior Devotee cut the cake and distributed among the members.  The program ended with the Mangal Aarati and distribution of the Prasad.

Faizan Khan, the local boy from Singtam is part of Sikkim Cricket team for the last nine years. He is the opening batsman and was part of 1st North East 20-20 Cricket Championship held at Nagaland.

Sikkimese producer Kishor Dungmali Rai ’s Nepali Feature Film “Anmol Chhan” A Christmas in September has tied up with Sikkim First FM Station Radio Misty . The Music release of the movie is scheduled to be held at Radio Misty FM Station after Dusshera holidays. Previously Radio Misty 95 FM was a radio partner for Mr. Dungmali’s Indian Idol acted flick “Angalo Maya Ko” also. Music for this movie was composed by Anmol Gurung , Anand Rai and playback voice given by Indian Idol 3 Prashant Tamang, Himalayan Idol Banika Pradhan , Voice of Shalom winner Elishiba Rai , Anmol Gurung, Bigyan Baraily, Navin Rai and Suzan Subba respectively.  Well known Music Director of Kolkata Saikap Deb had given background score and arranged some songs for this movie. SINGTAM, SEPTMBER 24:  Youth Intervention under Multi Media Campaign 2013-14 for the schools of East Sikkim started from Chisopani JHS today. The program was organized by Red Ribbon Club Badhaichha Creation under Sikkim State AIDS Control Society, Gangtok.  Present on the occasion was Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster Chisopani JHS and his staff along with Mohan Pradhan, Headmaster Sawney Primary School who was invited by the Chisoani JHS as a guest for the programme. The team of RRC Badhaichha Creation and SSACS visited Chisopani JHS and interacted with the students. They organized different competition for the students. The competition included Painting, Slogan and interaction games on the themes of HIV/ AIDS and Drug Abuse. The winners were presented prizes at the end of the programme.     SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 21 :  A students rally was organized by East Point SSS today to generate awareness among the public regarding the common fatal disease dengue. Students from Class VIII to Class XII participated in the awareness rally guided by the teachers of the school.  The rally started from the school premises heading towards the heart of the town of Singtam to Bhanu Park and reached till Adarsh Gaon. The students shouted slogans and appealed to the general public to maintain cleanliness to prevent this disease. They also distributed pamphlets to create consciousness among the people. The entire EPSS family is very thankful to the Singtam Police administration for extending their utmost cooperation to make this event a great success. 

The legend of Lampokhari and an unknown burial at Aritar I find myself fortunate that my effort to provide information about our state's bygone days through this column is appreciated. I have always considered myself a storyteller rather than a history digger.  I am just a medium through which these stories, anecdotes, and essays are shared so that readers can learn more about the state of Sikkim. I firmly believe that the more I share, the more I hear in return. To add to last week's article on “Revisiting Dalapchand,” today I share exciting stories of a legend of Lampokhari, which is not recorded in papers but passed on from one generation to another. BB Rai, my former staff member at Dalapchand SS, told me some exciting stories he had heard from old folks.
