Shantinagar Sai Mandali visits Old Age home to celebrate Sai Baba’s B’day

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 24:  More than twelve members of Shri Satya Sai Bhajan Mandali, Shantinagar visited Old Age Home at Jalipool to celebrate the 88th birth anniversary of Shri Satya Sai Baba, yesterday. They presented Shawls and food items to eight male and three female people out there.  They also handed over a cash donation to the Ishwaramma Samittee, Jalipool.
On the second stage of the program; an evening program as held at Sai Mandir, Shantinagar. Chandra Kala Mangar was felicitated with a shawl and a photo frame of Bhagwan Baba. Renu Sharma performed the dweep prajwalan. It was followed by the Gayatari and Sai Gayatri chants.  Burning of 108 lamps was held. HN Sharma, Senior Devotee cut the cake and distributed among the members.  The program ended with the Mangal Aarati and distribution of the Prasad.

Sukunda: Newa`s five elements

(Information by Dipak Shrestha) Sukunda is a typical traditional Nepali oil lamp made of brass. The front part of this lamp shows a tiny icon of Ganesha, the god of luck and success. On its front is a small cup fixed in the shape of a Yoni used to put the wick. Fixed on the back of the lamp is a fascinating loop handle designed with a five-headed serpent (sometimes a mythical dragon or makara) raising its head in a very watchful attitude.  A small spoon with a nagakanya on top generally replenishes the reservoir's oil. The artistic work on this unique oil lamp reflects the remote past of a very famous Buddhist legend.  The Legend A long time ago, Kathmandu Valley was a large lake inhabited by nagas(snakes). 28.09.21: I am very happy to receive three autographs from Shirley Maclaine, Academy Award winners. The two photo card with my name was send by me and to my big surprise I  received a bigger colour autograph with my name. Thank You Madam. Shirley Maclaine is a five time Academy Award nominee and the winner of Best Actress in the 1983’s critically acclaimed comedy classic ‘ Terms of Endearment ’. The film had an eleven Oscar nomination out of which they received five awards. She started her career with Alfred Hitchcock’s in 1955’s  The Trouble with Harry .
