The first win of the season in Ranji Trophy came along the way of Sikkim in a match against Manipur on 29 th January at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. Sikkim won the match by 232 runs, earning 6 Point(s) for the win. With this win, Sikkim is standing with 10 Point(s) in the team standing table with one win and two draws. The match was started on 27 th January with Manipur winning the toss and choosing to field first. Sikkim scored 169 runs in the first innings of which highest run was scored by Lee Yong Lepcha (45), as the Manipur had a good bowling line-up with Rex Singh taking 4 wickets, Thomas 3 wickets, Bishworjit 2 wickets and Priyojit 1 wicket. It was the vital partnership between Palzor and Lee Yong of 69 runs that help Sikkim to a decent total. SINGTAM, JANUARY 26:   71 st Republic Day was celebrated at Badminton Court, Near Rani Khola Walkway by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. Members of all walk of age attended the two hour long program. Krishna Chettri, President SGSS and with Deo Kumari Pradhan, the senior most member of the Samiti hoisted the flag. In his speech, Chettri spoked of united India and proud India. Shital Pradhan, member SGSS spoked about the importance of the day. Tarundeep Rai, Jitu Rai and Nil Bahadur were congratulated for receiving the Padma Shri, fourth highest civilian award of India. Sishir Pradhan was the host of the day. Sweets were distributed on the occasion.

SINGTAM, JANUARY 24: The shooting of nepali short film ‘Sambandha’ gets completed at locales of Singtam and Mazhitar. The film is produced and directed by Praja Pradhan under his banner Shaphal Films. The short film revolves around an environmental theme. Vinod Sereng, veteran film director from Nepal, cine star Uttam Pradhan, Indian Idol fame Prashant Tamang and famed nepali singer Damber Nepali were present at the Mahurat shoot. The story is by AB Gurung, script by Praja Pradhan, concept by Shital Pradhan and camera work was done by Galchen Bhutia. The actors in main roles are Kishore Dungmali, Aadarsh Pradhan, AB Gurung, Zigmei D Bhutia, Takendra Gurung, Premi Lepcha and two child artists Kasish Sharma and Yojana Chettri

SINGTAM, December 24 : For the second consecutive year, Vivek Yonzone from Singamari, Darjeeling , won a silver medal at the National Philatelic Exhibition at World Trade Center, Mumbai, on December 22. INPEX 2019 was organized by the Philatelic Congress of India from December 18-22, 2019. Yonzone is the General Secretary of the  ALPINE Philatelic and Numismatic Society . Yonzone displayed five-frame exhibits on Element of Music . His exhibition had both Indian and foreign materials on music. He is also a member of the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society. After sharing the points in the first match of the Col. C. K. Nayudu Trophy against Pondicherry as the match was drawn due to rain, Sikkim outplayed Nagaland in the second match played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Nagaland today by 3 wickets. It was a very interesting match as the match continued until the last day. Both side gave their best in both innings. Nagaland won the toss and chose to bat first. SINGTAM , December 22: Roshan Prasad from Singtam, Sikkim , wins bronze in Literature class at INPEX-2019 ( National Philatelic Exhibition ) at World Trade Center , Mumbai today. The exhibition was organized by the Philatelic Congress of India from 18 to 22 December 2019 in collaboration with the Department of Posts, India . He is a popular philatelist with International recognition and is also the Treasurer of the Sikkim Philatelic & Numismatic Society. Over 250 participants from various states of India participated in the competition. Prasad had participated in the Literature class of the exhibition with his book “The Stamp Collectors’ Dictionary” .
