SUDARSHAN AGARWAL SWORN IN AS THE 13TH GOVERNOR OF SIKKIM


GANGTOK, October 25: Sudarshan Agarwal, the former Governor of Uttarkhand was today sworn in as the new Governor of Sikkim in a brief swearing in ceremony held at Ashirbad Bhawan in the vicinity of Raj Bhawan.

The Chief Justice, Ajoy Nath Ray, administrated the oath of office to the new Governor.

Earlier the Chief Secretary ND Chingappa read the warrant of appointment of the Governor.

The Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, along with Tika Maya Chamling, his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker DN Thakarpa, Deputy Speaker Mingma Sherpa, MLAs, Chairpersons, heads of the State Government Departments and Senior Army Officials were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also accorded a warm welcome to the new Governor. The first lady Usha Agarwal and his relatives also attended the swearing- in ceremony.

Mr. Agarwal took charge from V Rama Rao, who left for his hometown Hyderabad early this morning.
