Children Day observed at Burung and Lingtam Schools





SINGTAM: NT Bhutia, Headmaster of Burung Primary School along with his other school staffs paid tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minster of India on his 120th birth anniversary. A small function was organised that was followed by distribution of sweets and meal among the students at the school premises.   


The day started with the lightening of the diya and the offering of a khada to the frame of Pandit Nehru.  NT Bhutia while addressing to the students spoke of the significance of the day and the fond relation that Pandit Nehru had with the children.  Uttam Siwakoti, the senior teacher of the school in his speech gave a brief outline of Pandit Nehru. It is noted that the birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru is celebrated as Children Day throughout the nation.


LINGTAM: Lingtam Secondary School joined the rest of India in celebrating the 120th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, freedom fighter and the first Prime Minister of India at school premise. The day also saw the annual prize distributions of the inter-house activities held throughout the year. Cultural programmes jointly carried out by the teachers and the students were the other highlight of the day.
The day long function started with the offering of the khada by Dorjee Sherpa, Headmaster Lingtam Secondary School at the photo frame of Pandit Nehru that was followed by his brief speech on the importance of Children Day.  Thendup Sherpa, a social worker and senior citizen of Lingtam was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Kiran Rai was the anchor for the day. The function ended with the serving of meals to the students.
