Singtam prepares for “Sikkim Dance Ka Maha Mukabla”

New Heaven Dance Institute, Singtam, East Sikkim is all set to come with state-level dance competition “Sikkim Dance Ka Maha Mukabla” to nurture the local promising talents within the state to the national level under the banner of Red Panda Rover Crew, Singtam.


“Sikkim Dance Ka Maha Mukabla” is to begin on June 10, 2010, at Gorkha Dharamsala, Singtam. The dance competition shall feature junior and senior groups. The junior dance competition shall have participants below 14 years and feature solo dance while for the senior category, the competition participants should be above 14-24 years and they have to compete in a group dance. A group dance category shall feature 9 participants. 

Winners of the Junior Category shall be rewarded with Rs 10,000 while the first runner-up shall be presented with Rs 5,000 along with trophies and certificates respectively. Similarly in the Senior Category, the bumper prize is Rs 25,000 while the first runner-up shall be presented with Rs 15,000 along with trophies and certificates respectively. The participants should be from Sikkim and should present their birth certificates along with admission forms.

The “Sikkim Dance Ka Maha Mukabla” Dance Competition shall be held in four stages i.e. audition round, Quarterfinal, Semi-Final, and Final. All the rounds shall be held at Singtam. The forms of the dance competition is available in all the major town of Sikkim including, Gangtok, Ranipool, Pakyong, Ravangla, Geyzing, Timi Tarku, Rongli, Rhenock, Jorethang, Namchi, Mangan, and Singtam. Bishnu Suman, originally from Delhi is the Director cum Dance Choreographer of New Heaven Dance Institute is running the Dance Institute for the last four years at Singtam. The students of New Heaven Dance Institute in recent times have participated in numerous state-level and national-level dance competitions. Suman feels that there are potential among the local talents but they lack exposure at the national level. The competition is just an opening for those deserving contestants.

New Heaven Dance Institute shall provide an opportunity to the winners to participate in national-level competitions. The participants shall perform any dance form in the audition rounds while after that theme rounds shall be introduced by the celebrity judges. The winners of both categories shall be under one-year contracts. Singtam Bazaar committee is providing necessary support to the show, added Bishnu Suman.

Young chess champions shine at the Lt. Shanker Lamichaney chess tournament 2026

The Lt. Shanker Lamichaney Chess Tournament 2026 was held on June 7, 2026, at Singtam. 40 players participated in the tournament and showed great strategic skills across five competitive rounds. In the Under-18 age category, Aarav Pradhan secured the 1st position, followed by Arnav Rai in 2nd place, and Suyog Shital Pradhan in 3rd place, with all three top achievers remaining unbeaten throughout the entire tournament. In the Under-11 age category, the top spot was claimed by Sufiyan Nasim, while Yedhant Agarwal took the 2nd position, and Palak Agarwal finished strong in 3rd position. The event was organized at Euphoria Restaurant, Singtam, in collaboration with the Knight Chess Academy Singtam. To support the young local talents of Singtam, the tournament was sponsored by the family of Lt. Shanker Lamichaney – Mrs. Devika Lamichaney (his wife) and sons – Ashish Lamichaney and Anand Lamichaney.
