Singtam youths prepares to “Spark”

Spark, a Non Governmental Organisation was set up at Singtam with a youth appeal. The meeting attended by more than dozen youths from different locality of Singtam unanimously nominated an ad-doc committee for the organisation. Praveen Pradhan as President, Nangshel Lhamu Sherpa as Vice President, Rajani Pradhan as General Secretary, Asim Pradhan as Joint Secretary, Rahul Agarwal as Treasurer, Rubina Lepcha as Assistant Treasurer and Shital Pradhan as Publicity In-charge was selected for the ad-doc body until the general body is elected. Talks on different issues relevant to the development of the society were discussed. The organisation has also decided to make its debut at Singtam on June 25 with the plantation drive of “10 minutes to Earth”. 

Praveen Pradhan, President of the NGO told that the organisation needs support and hard work from every member for the betterment of the NGO as well as the society. If we unite we can do many things, added Pradhan. Nangshel Lhamu Sherpa, Vice President told there was a need of an organisation in youth level in Singtam and it was due to this factor we all joined together to contribute towards our society. Other members in the organisation are Shekhar Pradhan, Sarad Dhamala, Lhamu Subba, Rekha Chettri, Praja Pradhan and Prakash Sundas.

Young chess champions shine at the Lt. Shanker Lamichaney chess tournament 2026

The Lt. Shanker Lamichaney Chess Tournament 2026 was held on June 7, 2026, at Singtam. 40 players participated in the tournament and showed great strategic skills across five competitive rounds. In the Under-18 age category, Aarav Pradhan secured the 1st position, followed by Arnav Rai in 2nd place, and Suyog Shital Pradhan in 3rd place, with all three top achievers remaining unbeaten throughout the entire tournament. In the Under-11 age category, the top spot was claimed by Sufiyan Nasim, while Yedhant Agarwal took the 2nd position, and Palak Agarwal finished strong in 3rd position. The event was organized at Euphoria Restaurant, Singtam, in collaboration with the Knight Chess Academy Singtam. To support the young local talents of Singtam, the tournament was sponsored by the family of Lt. Shanker Lamichaney – Mrs. Devika Lamichaney (his wife) and sons – Ashish Lamichaney and Anand Lamichaney.
