Nine philatelists to represent Sikkim at National Philatelic Exhibition

SINGTAM: Nine philatelists from Sikkim are all set to participate at the Stamps of India National Exhibition organized by Bharatiya Daktikit Sangstha, Kolkata, to be held in New Delhi. Those nine philatelists include Ganesh Pradhan, Padam Parajuli, Shital Pradhan, Deepen Pradhan Roshan Prasad, Sumnima Parajuli, Sudarshan Pradhan, Sristikaa Pradhan, and Sushil Karthok. Stamps of India National Exhibition shall be held from December 10-12 at Okhla, New Delhi. 

It should be noted that Shital Pradhan and Roshan Prasad from Sikkim received the Sapphire award each at Stampmania 2009, the First National One Frame Philatelic Exhibition held on 18-20 December 2009, organized by Baroda Philatelic Society, Vadodara. Shital Pradhan is also the Head of the Sikkim State Representative at the Stamps of India National Exhibition this year.

Ganesh Pradhan, President of Sikkim Philatelic Society, has expressed positive thoughts that this team of stamp collectors from Sikkim will make a mark in the three-day-long exhibition. In this national exhibition, nine stamp collectors have participated, which is a nice progress from the earlier exhibition, where we had only four exhibitors from Sikkim, he said.

Two words on the 8th para, which earlier said 'Rajah rah Rani,' were replaced with "Janmah bhumi."     This song was dedicated to the King and Queen of Sikkim. Young chess champions shine at the Lt. Shanker Lamichaney chess tournament 2026

The Lt. Shanker Lamichaney Chess Tournament 2026 was held on June 7, 2026, at Singtam. 40 players participated in the tournament and showed great strategic skills across five competitive rounds. In the Under-18 age category, Aarav Pradhan secured the 1st position, followed by Arnav Rai in 2nd place, and Suyog Shital Pradhan in 3rd place, with all three top achievers remaining unbeaten throughout the entire tournament. In the Under-11 age category, the top spot was claimed by Sufiyan Nasim, while Yedhant Agarwal took the 2nd position, and Palak Agarwal finished strong in 3rd position. The event was organized at Euphoria Restaurant, Singtam, in collaboration with the Knight Chess Academy Singtam. To support the young local talents of Singtam, the tournament was sponsored by the family of Lt. Shanker Lamichaney – Mrs. Devika Lamichaney (his wife) and sons – Ashish Lamichaney and Anand Lamichaney.
