Sikkim women cricket team won their match
against Mizoram today in ongoing Women’s U23 One-Day League (2018-19) at KIIT
Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. Sikkim have won two matches so far in
the tournament and is standing with 8 Point(s) in the Plate Division. They will
be playing eight matches in this tournament.
Mizoram won the toss
and elected to field first. Sikkim scored 209 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in
50 overs. Nandita scored 65 of 145 balls, Samayita 64 not-out of 70 balls,
Tshering Yangden (10), Pretika Chettri (7) and Tabita Subba (4). Not only the
batsman but even the bowlers took the crucial role, they restricted the
opponent for just 88 runs in 34 overs, in which Neema Yanki Lepcha took 3
wickets, Tabita Subba 2 wickets and Pranita Chettri, Nur Pandi Lepcha and Samayita
took 1 wicket each.
“Girls are getting
confident with every match played and I believe with more time they will
perform even better. We are looking forward to the remaining matches of the
tournament and will be giving our best. – says Coach Kikam Bhutia.”
Sikkim cricket will be playing against Bihar, Puducherry,
Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand in this tournament and
currently is in the 5th position of the points table ahead of
Manipur, Puducherry, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
