CM promises to make youth equal partners in development


Mining, 7th April: Pawan Chamling reached Mining, Rangpo, in East Sikkim today on the 9th day of the 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally. People from Tumin Lingee, Martam Rumtek, Khamdong Singtam and West Pendam constituencies joined in the event. The event was widely streamed and about 3 lakh people tuned in on social media.




Chamling informed the crowd of SDF’s development plans for the state. Some of these included sanctioning of all pending land allotment cases within 100 days of formation of government, regularisation of Muster Roll (MR) and Ad-hoc jobs, MR jobs to be given to the wife of driver in case of accidental death of the husband, provision of a one-time grant of Rs 5 lakh to those wanting to start new professional businesses, internet and wi-fi connection to be provided to every Gram Panchayat level. He also thanked all Self-help Groups (SHG) for doing tremendous work in the state and added that Rs 1 lakh will be provided to all SHGs.
He further stated that SDF stands for “Youth-first” policy which aims to make the youth active partners in development. In doing so, he said that the party will start a youth forum and youth assembly through which the youth will have more say in the decision-making process. He has promised to give jobs to those left out families of OFOJ schemes within 100 days of forming the government. He also talked about the new scheme that the SDF government is planning to implement in their next term that is the “One person one profession” which aims at empowering each family with a skill.
He urged the people to vote once again in favour of SDF party in the upcoming elections reminding people of the great responsibility of voting and warning people to be wary of seasonal politicians, who will disappear immediately after the elections and betray them. Gas cylinder will be supplied to doorstep.
On the previous 8 days of the Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally, Pawan Chamling addressed the public in Soreng, Mangan, Gagtok, Namthang, Rorathang, Kabi, Ravangla and Geyzing. Tomorrow he will be addressing the public in Jorethang.
The election to the 32-member Sikkim Assembly is being held on 11th April alongside the Lok Sabha election.
