    Nice pics. I cannot imagine PNG that old. My mum studied in the same school, you know. Her principal, Miss Ritchie was my principal for one year (class XI) and Rosabelle mam was the other principal for the next year.

    Made a lot of friends in PNG, the best one was Shaliya. (She studied since kindergarten, unlike me)

    Those were the days...

    I have studied in many school( 5 to be exact), but its St. Thomas and PNG that is closest to my heart. With your permission I would like to copy the photographs.
    PNG can be called a heritage school for what it did to girl's education in the state. But sadly now it does not even get the state funding :(
    I remember the story about how Ms. Mary Scot had to lure the first 4 students to come and attend the classes with toffees and choclates, and there was the extremely difficult task of convincing the parents to send the girl child to school. Hats off to her.

    Hi, thankyou for potographs.
    I was in school (hostel)from 1988-1996.
    I want to copy all the images and upload it in face book...
    I requested for the pictures to Mrs. Laden our senior sister who works in PNGSS administration office.

Sukunda: Newa`s five elements

(Information by Dipak Shrestha) Sukunda is a typical traditional Nepali oil lamp made of brass. The front part of this lamp shows a tiny icon of Ganesha, the god of luck and success. On its front is a small cup fixed in the shape of a Yoni used to put the wick. Fixed on the back of the lamp is a fascinating loop handle designed with a five-headed serpent (sometimes a mythical dragon or makara) raising its head in a very watchful attitude.  A small spoon with a nagakanya on top generally replenishes the reservoir's oil. The artistic work on this unique oil lamp reflects the remote past of a very famous Buddhist legend.  The Legend A long time ago, Kathmandu Valley was a large lake inhabited by nagas(snakes). In the middle of the lake was a beautifully blooming thousand-petalled lotus flame. When Buddhisattwa Mahamanjushree heard about this, he rushed to the valley from China to pay homage to the flame. 28.09.21: I am very happy to receive three autographs from Shirley Maclaine, Academy Award winners. The two photo card with my name was send by me and to my big surprise I  received a bigger colour autograph with my name. Thank You Madam. Shirley Maclaine is a five time Academy Award nominee and the winner of Best Actress in the 1983’s critically acclaimed comedy classic ‘ Terms of Endearment ’. The film had an eleven Oscar nomination out of which they received five awards. She started her career with Alfred Hitchcock’s in 1955’s  The Trouble with Harry .
