Bharat Jyoti Awardee 2013 Bikash Pradhan greeted at Rangpo


SINGTAM, JUNE 12: Bikash Pradhan, recipient of Bharat Jyoti Award 2013 was greeted today at Rangpo-Namthang Raod by the members of Singtam Basibiyalo, Badhaichha Creation, and a team of Namthang. Pradhan, resident of Namthang had received Bharat Jyoti Award 2013 in the field of social work at Multipurpose Hall Max Muller Marg, near Lodhi Garden, New Delhi from India International Friendship Society, Delhi on June 10.
 
Bikash Pradhan thanked everyone for the warm welcome and said that his success was not complete without a teamwork. He wished to share his success with everyone who had helped him in his way of success.


Mohan Pradhan “Neeraj”, Santhapak Singtam Basibiyalo has said, it is an achievement we should remember for a long time. He added for every Sikkimese it is a proud moment that our son has made his presence in the national scenario. Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director, Badhaichha Creation expressed his warm regard to the awardee and wished him every success in days to come. Pradhan said I am very happy to read in a newspaper that the previous winners of the Bharat Jyoti Award included legends like Mother Teresa, actor Sunil Dutt, cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and others.
 
GM Gurung, former HRDD Minister, Govt of Sikkim, Robin Sewa, BDO Namgthang BAC, and Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster Sakyong Chisopani JHS was also present on the occasion.

Sikkim closes for a day in support of their CM

A 12-hour bandh call by the supporters of the ruling SDF party was observed today. The bandh was called to protest the burning of Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling's effigy by the Shiv Sena activists on the 11th of September in Siliguri, West Bengal charging CM Chamling with having 'dual nationality. Except for Army and GREF all other Vehicles, as well as shops, were closed. Such a state bandh was last held ten years back. (photographs from Singtam)

Snake like fish caught in Singtam River

The  Indian mottled eel,  locally known as Raj Bam,   was recovered from the Singtam River at Golitar this early morning.  The snake-like fish weighed around 7 kg and was four feet long. The local people said that they had never seen this species for so long. Such mysterious-looking marine fish are also sighted from time to time on the river banks, local people added.
