RONGLI: JANUARY 28: SSB, Panchayats and Ngo members celebrated 66 th Republic Day at Phadamchen SSB camp. Binay Singh, Commanding Officer, SSB was present as a chief guest and hosted the national flag. Zangmu Sherpa, Panchayat Vice President, Sonam Thendup Sherpa, Panchayat Secretary, Raju Jairu, Jan Kalyan Nehru Yuwa Sammiti (NGO) gave the brief about republic day. LT Bhutia Zaluk PS, Ang Tashi Sherpa, Phadamchen Police Out Post, public, NGO representatives was also present. At the end of the program sweets were distributed to the children.

RONGLI: JANUARY 28: 20 - Chujachen constituency celebrated Republic Day at Rongli Sub-Division office. Bikram Pradhan, area MLA cum Chief Whip hosted the national flag and received the guard of honour which was given by Rongli police. Other guests included SDM, SDPO, BDO, Officer In-charge, Rongli PS, Sub-Division level officers, panchayats, ex-panchyats, youths, chelli, students of livelihood school Chujachen and ohers. Somnath Adhikari, SDM gave the welcome speech and read out the Republic Day Message of HE Governor of Sikkim. Patriotic song ‘jaya janma bhumi swadesh, jaya bharat hamro desh’ was presented by livelihood school. Bikram Pradhan spoked on the importance of the day and read out the Republic Day message of HCM of Sikkim. Purusotam Pradhan, DRCS gave the vote of thanks while Bhim Pradhan was the Master of ceremony.

Nepali comedy film Resham Filili, produced in Nepal, launched its music today at Deorali, Gangtok. A musical function was held at Deorali, Gangtok, capital of Sikkim which also was an India release. Gangtok-based, White Horse Productions is an exhibition partner of the movie for India. The audio release was held in the presence of Raghav Chettri, Social Worker; Shital Pradhan, blogger “Proud to be a Sikkimese,” Biren Lama, CEO “Of the White Horse Production” Priyanka Tamang, General Manager, “The White Horse Production” and others. The film stars Vinay Shrestha, Menuka Pradhan Kameshwar Chaurashriya, and others. Music by Kali Prasad Baskota, the hummable songs of the movie, is becoming popular with each passing day. There are four songs in the film. Actor Vinay Shrestha, explaining his inability to attend the audio release, sent a video message from Kathmandu, Nepal, through the internet that was shown to the gathering. SINGTAM, JANUARY 7: Taran Pradhan from Bardang has won a bronze medal in 56 kg at boxing event at recently held National Rural Sports Competition Group V at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.   The competition held from December 27 – 30 was organised by Mission Directorate – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Taran Pradhan has thanked Pritam Shilal, his boxing coach for his triumph. He further thanked the state government for providing the platform and opportunity to showcase his skills.     Pradhan was among 10 boxers from Sikkim who was selected to represent the state after his successful stint at Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan selections held at different parts of Sikkim. Sikkim boxers went on to win three bronze medals in the competition. Other bronze medalists from Sikkim were Kalpana Subba from Mangshila and Mausam Rai from Namchi.
