13.07.21, Singtam: 207th birth anniversary of Adi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya was celebrated at Bhanu Udhyan, Singtam on July 13 maintaining proper health and safety covid protocols. Dr. MK Sharma, Health Minister, Government of Sikkim, and Area MLA was the Chief Guest of the day while Bindeshwari Prasad, a prominent Nepali literary writer, Secretary - PHE Department was the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished guests included Rohit Raj Maharaj, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Sunita Gautam, Chairperson - RDD, Suresh Tamang - President Singtam Nagar Panchayat, Bindhya Subba, Yad Kri Kami, Mukesh Agarwal, and Kishore Chettri (all Councillors - Singtam Nagar Panchayat), SB Gurung - SHO, Singtam Police Station, Norden Tamang - President Singtam Driver Association and others.

Singtam observes 207th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration
The
highlight of the day was the presentation of Ramayan Path and Poetry
recitation. A felicitation program was also held on the occasion. The
Chief Guest and the other guests were offered khadas by LN Pradhan,
President of the organizing committee. The program started with the
lightening of the lamp by the Chief Guests and other guests. Garlanding
ceremony and paying homage to Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta's statue was done by
the Chief Guest and other guests.
Dr.
MK Sharma, Health Minister, Government of Sikkim was felicitated from
the hand of Rohit Raj Maharaj, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sikkim
while Gajjanand Agarwal (Gajju) was felicitated by the Health Minister
of Sikkim. Further souvenir presentations were done to Rohit Raj
Maharaj, Bindeshari Prasad, Sunita Gautam and KB Chettri.
Addressing
the gathering, Chief Guest, Dr. Sharma spoke about the importance of
the Nepali Language and the hard work Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta had made
during his days. He further said, his work inspired many generations of
Nepali-speaking speaking populations spread across the world. Souvenirs
were presented to Pratiksha Baniya, Prakrit Dhital, Nishan Dulal for
their Ramayan Path while Mahesh Dahal 'Raley' received his memento for
poetry recitation. Sundar Rai and Mohan Pradhan 'Neeraj;' were the host
of the day while SK Rai gave the vote of thanks.
