Newa Bhay Bowneykuthi prepares to host first of its kind Sikkim Newar Executives Coordination Meeting

26.06.22: Members of Newa Bhay Bowneykutti, Singtam Sakha Guthi held a meeting cum membership renewal program at Nepali Dharamsala. Bhaju Mahendra Pradhan, Vice President, Sikkim Newar Guthi and Advisor, NBB was the chairperson of the program. The highlight of the meeting was sharing of the plans of the organisation, the extension of executive members and the distribution of work for the forthcoming coordination meeting between the Executive Members of Sikkim Newar Guthi and twenty-three Sakha Guthi from different parts of Sikkim. Members also renewed their memberships. 

Meiju Kamala Pradhan (Vice President), Bhaju Basant Pradhan (Joint Secretary), Meiju Meena Pradhan (Secretary I - Culture and Literature), Bhaju Prakash Kazi Shrestha (Secretary II - Culture and Literature), and Bhaju Shital Pradhan (Publicity Incharge) were added to the existing executive members of Newa Bhay Bowneykutti.




Bhaju Gopal Pradhan, President NBB congratulated the new office bearers. He informed the gathered members of the celebration of Kwati Purney, which falls in the next two months' time. He further said about an opportunity to organise a state-level Newar event on July 2nd, 2022 at Singtam. 



Speaking on the occasion, Bhaju Manoj Pradhan, General Secretary talked about the forthcoming first-of-its-kind coordination meeting to be held in the state. Different Coordinators were selected for the successful completion of the event. Chairperson Bhaju Mahendra Pradhan spoke about the importance of the executive's coordination meeting. He shared about different activities carried out by the Sikkim Newar Guthi over the last few months.

  2. Sound System: Bhaju DK Pradhan and Bhaju Ashok Pradhan

  3. Tika and Sagun: Meiju Hemu Pradhan

  4. Food: Bhaju Binod Pradhan

  5. Reception: Bhaju TB Pradhan, Bhaju Suresh Pradhan and Bhaju DK Pradhan (Tinek)

  6. Tea/Snacks : Meiju Kamala Pradhan and Meiju Suraksha Pradhan

  7. Utensil/Chair : Bhaju Dinesh Pradhan

In memory of the brave Gorkha soldiers of the Darjeeling Hills who laid down their lives for the greater cause of the motherland, Nayan Subba takes the opportunity to recall their contributions on the occasion of the 58th Republic Day The Gorkhas are a small little community in India where people of diverse origins mingle to contribute a great composite Indian culture. In the northeast General Johar Singh and General Purna Ale overran a major part of Sikkim in 1788, which included Nagri and Darjeeling. The British defeated the Gorkhas during the Anglo Gorkha war of 1814-16 and the lands they had conquered were ceded to the British and re-profiled. Maharani Kunzang Dechen wife of Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal

Maharani Kunzang Dechhen in the centre to her left is Prince Paljor, to her right is Prince Palden Thondup Namgyal who later became the Chogya of Sikkiml, in front is Princess Pema Tsedeun. The baby is Princess Pema Choki. MAHARANI KUSHANG DECHEN RAGASHAR was married to Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal, the King of Sikkim on 8th October 1918 at the Royal Chapel, Tsuklakhang Monastery. They had three sons and three daughters: Paljor Namgyal, Palden Thondup Namgyal, Jigdal Tsewing Namgyal, Pema Tsedong Namgyal, Pema Choki Namgyal and Sonam Palden Namgyal.
