Fond Farewell to a Beloved Sakyong Chisopani JHS

03.07.23: With a heavy heart, I gather my thoughts to pen down these lines. Today marks the end of an era as I bid adieu to this beloved school. It seems like just yesterday when I embarked on this journey. Reflecting upon the last decade, I feel immense gratitude for the opportunities that came my way. 



Along this path, I had the privilege of working with three exceptional Headmasters: Shri Mahesh Dahal, Shri Satish Chandra Pradhan, and Shri PB Subba, and senior teachers like Smt. Gita Pradhan, Shri DP Pandey, Shri LN Sharma, Shri TR Baniya, Shri CM Chettri, and Shri Arjun Chettri. Each of them imparted valuable wisdom over time, introducing me to different teaching approaches and the fundamental principles of school administration through our enriching conversations on uplifting the institution.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the guardians, parents, and families participating in this journey. Your unwavering support and trust in me have been the pillars of strength. To my dear students, you have brought so much joy and meaning to my life. Each of you holds a special place in my heart, and I will undoubtedly miss the cherished moments we shared together. 

I cannot express enough appreciation for the incredible teaching and non-teaching staff who have graced this institution. Working alongside such talented and dedicated individuals has been a true privilege. Each person has taught me valuable lessons and offered unique perspectives, enriching my understanding of life's diverse tapestry. I am sincerely grateful to each one of them.

As I bid farewell, I earnestly hope that the spirit of cooperation and dedication towards the school will continue to thrive. The School Management Committees play a pivotal role, and I trust in their commitment to the growth and success of this institution. Now, as a new chapter begins, I embark on a different path. 

Tomorrow, Mrs. Nirmala Sharma, one of the school's pillars, and I will join our new postings as the Headmaster of Dongeythang Primary School and the Headmistress of the Primary Section at Singtam SSS. We carry with us the memories and lessons from this school, which will forever shape our approach to education and administration. 

To all of you, my dear friends, colleagues, students, parents, and well-wishers, I extend my deepest gratitude for the love, support, and togetherness you have bestowed upon me. I bid farewell to the school I have served for the last ten years with a mixture of emotions, but I am filled with optimism and excitement for the journey that lies ahead. 

May this school continue to thrive and nurture young minds, guiding them towards a bright future? Farewell, my dear school, and thank you for being an integral part of my life's journey.

In memory of the brave Gorkha soldiers of the Darjeeling Hills who laid down their lives for the greater cause of the motherland, Nayan Subba takes the opportunity to recall their contributions on the occasion of the 58th Republic Day The Gorkhas are a small little community in India where people of diverse origins mingle to contribute a great composite Indian culture. They are the descendants of General Amar Singh Thapa who invaded India and annexed Garhwal and Kumaon that included the hill stations of Simla, Musssoorie, Lansdowne, Almora, Nainital, Ranikhet and Pithoragarh. In the northeast General Johar Singh and General Purna Ale overran a major part of Sikkim in 1788, which included Nagri and Darjeeling. The British defeated the Gorkhas during the Anglo Gorkha war of 1814-16 and the lands they had conquered were ceded to the British and re-profiled.
