Dental Health Camp organised at Dongeythang Primary School

06.04.26: A Dental Health Camp was held at Dongeythang Primary School under the National Oral Health Program. It was organized by Sang PHC in association with the school to spread awareness about dental and overall health.

A total of twenty-five students, eleven school staff members, and seven parents attended the camp. Officials from Dongeythang PHSC were also present and conducted free blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar tests, which benefited everyone. The camp included free dental check-ups, simple brushing demonstrations, and guidance on how to take care of teeth.

The visiting doctors, Dr. Bindhya Sharma and Dr. Anjulika Sharma, Dental Surgeons from Sang PHC, along with the Mrs. Indira Sharma (ANM), Mrs.Tika Bhattrai, and Mrs. Kabita Sharma, officials from Dongeythang PHSC were warmly welcomed by the Headmaster with khadas.

Dr. Bindhya Sharma also conducted a short awareness session where she explained easy and correct ways of brushing teeth. The students found the session very helpful and easy to understand. The students were also distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste.

We sincerely thank the health staff of both Sang PHC and Dongeythang PHC for their support and for making this camp successful.

Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal, with his mother Queen Mother Denzong Lhayumkusho and Prince Wangchuk of Sikkim

The late Jungkyang Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal, seated with his mother Queen Mother Denzong Lhayumkusho, daughter of Rakasha family of Tibet, and Prince Wangchuk whose late mother hails from the Samdrup Phodrang family of Tibet. Standing next to Denzong Queen Mother is the senior Rakasha Lhachamkusho, daughter of Raja Tsodrak Namgyal Taring of Sikkim, the eldest son of Chogyal Thutop Namgyal, who gave up the Sikkimese throne to his younger brother Sir Chogyal Tashi Namgyal in favour of staying in Tibet. The Taring family of Tibet enabled into Tibetan high society by the great 13th Dalai Lama, is legitimately the unbroken elder line of the Royal Namgyal lineage of Sikkim, since Raja Tsodrak Namgyal was the Crown Prince of Sikkim, and his sons and grandsons today go by the Taring family name. JANHA BAGCHA TEESTA RANGIT

This was a national song of Sikkim sung in the Nepali language during the monarchy system. During the merger with India, the song got banned and later re-released. Two words on the 8th para, which earlier said 'Rajah rah Rani,' were replaced with "Janmah bhumi." This song was dedicated to the King and Queen of Sikkim. The song lyrics were penned by Sanu Lama, and the music was composed by Dushyant Lama. The song was first sung on the birth anniversary of Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal on April 4, 1970, at Gangtok by Aruna Lama, Dawa Lama, and Manikamal Chettri.
