Dental Health Camp organised at Dongeythang Primary School

06.04.26: A Dental Health Camp was held at Dongeythang Primary School under the National Oral Health Program. It was organized by Sang PHC in association with the school to spread awareness about dental and overall health.




A total of twenty-five students, eleven school staff members, and seven parents attended the camp. Officials from Dongeythang PHSC were also present and conducted free blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar tests, which benefited everyone. The camp included free dental check-ups, simple brushing demonstrations, and guidance on how to take care of teeth.

The visiting doctors, Dr. Bindhya Sharma and Dr. Anjulika Sharma, Dental Surgeons from Sang PHC, along with the Mrs. Indira Sharma (ANM), Mrs.Tika Bhattrai, and Mrs. Kabita Sharma, officials from Dongeythang PHSC were warmly welcomed by the Headmaster with khadas.



Dr. Bindhya Sharma also conducted a short awareness session where she explained easy and correct ways of brushing teeth. The students found the session very helpful and easy to understand. The students were also distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste.

We sincerely thank the health staff of both Sang PHC and Dongeythang PHC for their support and for making this camp successful.

Snake like fish caught in Singtam River

The  Indian mottled eel,  locally known as Raj Bam,   was recovered from the Singtam River at Golitar this early morning.  The snake-like fish weighed around 7 kg and was four feet long. The local people said that they had never seen this species for so long. Such mysterious-looking marine fish are also sighted from time to time on the river banks, local people added.

On that day, Sikkim Citizens, Subject holder (Sikkimese) became Indian Citizen according to “Sikkim (Citizenship) Order, 1975” which says “Every person who immediately before the 26th day of April, 1975 was a Sikkim Subject under the Sikkim Subject Regulation 1961, shall be deemed to have become a citizen of India on that day”. As the Indian Constitution does not provide dual citizenship and there exist only citizenship for the whole of country, therefore, the regulation which provided Sikkim Citizenship (Subjects) commonly known as “Sikkim Subject Regulation Act, 1961” was repealed on 13th Sep 1975 according to “Adaptation of Sikkim Laws (No.1) Order” power conferred by clause (l) of Article 371-F of the Constitution which took effect from 26th April 1975 (appointed day).
