GANGTOK, October 12: District election officials have expedited all poll related works for conduct of free and fair election in the district.
A special two-day training on how to operate Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and rectify minor defects in case of emergency was imparted to a group of presiding and polling officers of East District at Chintan Bhawan today.
Possible minor defects that could happen even during transportation and rectification methods were also demonstrated to all participants.
About 450 presiding and polling officers were present along with East District Magistrate Vishal Chauhan, Election Advisor KN Sharma and joint chief election officer CP Dhakal.
For better grasping techniques of EVMs, the groups were divided into groups consisting of 15 to 18 participants.
It was also informed that out of 450 trainees 180 would be kept reserved for emergency as well as for some unavoidable circumstances.
The next training will be held on October 15 at Chintan Bhawan.
Likewise, for South District the training will be held on October 13 & 14 at Namchi Community. The training for West District will be held on October 16 & 17 and on October 18 for North District.
