IHMS bags awards

Gangtok: The Institute of Hotel Management, Sikkim, (IHMS) has bagged three awards in 1st North Eastern Institute of Hotel Management of Culinary Challenge-2008 held in Shillong on last February 1 & 2, informs Mr. J.T. Gyaltshen, IHMS Administrator.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. P.S. Thangkhiew, Planning Adviser, North Eastern Council, on 31st January. The closing ceremony and the award ceremony was held on 2nd February wherein Mr. Falguni Rajkumar, Secretary, North Eastern Council, was chief guest and Mr. P.W. Ingty, Commissioner and Secretary(Tourism), Government of Meghalaya and Chairman of Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong, presided the programme, it is informed.
Total seven students had participated in the competition wherein for the international surprise basket competition, IHM, Sikkim stood 2nd and 1st in the overall ranking. For the vegetable and fruit carving competition, the institute stood 3rd in the overall ranking.
It was a very good exposure for the students as well as for the Faculty Members, Mr. Gyalthsen said.
