This was a national song of Sikkim sung in the Nepali language during the monarchy system. During the merger with India, the song got banned and later re-released. Two words on the 8th para, which earlier said 'Rajah rah Rani,' were replaced with "Janmah bhumi." This song was dedicated to the King and Queen of Sikkim. The song lyrics were penned by Sanu Lama, and the music was composed by Dushyant Lama. The song was first sung on the birth anniversary of Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal on April 4, 1970, at Gangtok by Aruna Lama, Dawa Lama, and Manikamal Chettri. the organizer along with Firefox team had contributed in making this event a success. at the end of the event they were kind enough for complimenting local riders from Sikkim by awarding them mountain bikes. three riders were awarded firefox mountain bikes each. 1st prize award given to the winner in Sikkim category was Firefox TARGET bike and the rest 2nd and 3rd were given firefox RELOADED bikes.
ReplyDeletesince categories of prizes were under organizers' discretion, it is surprising and shame that the 1st prize winner got the poor quality bike wherein some of the components were altered with poor quality (not as per the model specification) and the rest riders got better and expensive bikes.
the winning rider was not at all justified. there should have been equal quality of bikes awarded to all three winners from sikkim. if this is the practice that will follow next year, it is advisable that they must not opt for this as this will leave a very bad impression on local talents and the local talents shall, in the future, fight for 2nd and 3rd postition and not for the 1st position.
