Sikkim Chief Minister presents deficit budget of Rs. 39 lakh no new tax, Governor Agrawal lauded the effort of the Government

Gangtok, March 5: With the presentation of speech of Governor Sudharshan Agarwal, the budget session of Sikkim Legislative assembly begun here. Governor Agarwal said that the State Government has provided 40 % reservation to women for the Panchayats and many initiatives have been taken for the development of the State.

Later, Chief Minster and the minister-in-charge of Finance Dr. Pawan Chamling presented the budget for financial year 2008-2009 with Rs. lakh deficit. No new tax has been imposed in his budget bill. The total expenditure of Rs. 3165.74 has been proposed in the budget for the coming fiscal year. Five bills too have been introduced in the assembly by Minster Hissey Lachungpa, Minister Ram Bahadur Subba, Minister D.T. Lepcha and Chief Minister and leader of house Dr. Chamling.
