PCS condoles death of Mr. P. S. Nirash


Gangtok: Press Club of Sikkim has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Mr. P.S.Nirash, a veteran journalist of Sikkim, at a Delhi hospital on April 29.
A press release issued by PCS general secretary Mr. Bhim Rawat said Mr. Nirash contributed much in the history of Sikkim’s Journalism for more than twenty years starting from early 1960s. He started his journalism career as a Sikkim Correspondent of The Times of India and The Telegraph published from London. Subsequently he worked as editor of Jamana Sadabahar, a Hindi weekly published from Gangtok by his wife Mrs. Santosh Nirash, the release said.
A condolence meeting at PCS on April 30 was presided by Mr. C.D.Rai, President of the club. Mr. Rai recalled how he knew Mr. Nirash as a person and also as a journalist. Journalist Kamal Mukhia also spoke of the contribution of Mr. Nirash as a journalist. The meeting observed two minutes’ silence praying for peace of the departed soul.
